[OTA] Getting the groove back

Sep 13, 2009 23:10

It was just on dusk, and Rob was sitting on one of the lounges by the pool nursing a beer as he watched some of the island staff setting up for something called the Twilight Luau. He had seen posters around the island for it over the past couple of weeks, but it hadn't particularly caught his interest until he realised now that was what was going on. There hadn't been many people sitting around by the pool when he got here, but more and more people were gradually trickling in and some old Sixties music playing on the speakers. A few eager couples were already dancing on the dancefloor set up in the courtyard, while plates and plates of food were being set up on the other side of the pool in a huge buffet. He couldn't remember the last time he had been to anything like this and found himself wondering if he should stick around or not.

He took another mouthful off his beer, savouring the taste before swallowing it, and watched the dancing couples. It looked like fun. Was Fox even the dancing type? He wasn't sure he could see it, and convincing her to come along would probably be a losing battle. Either way, he was comfortable here, so he decided to stick it out and see how it unfolded. He was about to finish off his beer when a waitress dressed in a grass skirt and bikini top came over to him with a cheery 'Aloha, sir', and then strung a lei around his neck and handed him a bright red cocktail with three umbrellas before she moved onto the next bunch of people a few lounges away. Rob had to laugh slightly, feeling like a bit of a dork as he glanced around to make sure no one was looking at him. Now what? Did he take the thing off and make a hasty retreat back to the bungalow, or stay to not look like an ungrateful jerk? He took a hesistant sniff of the drink and raised his eyebrows. Did he want to brave a taste?
