[OTA] Fresh air or something like it

Rob snapped the loaded magazine into the pistol and aimed it at the target a hundred metres in the distance. Somewhere off to his left, he could hear someone calling the command to pull on the skeet shooting range, but shotguns had never really been much of his cup of tea. Two cartridges and you were spent. No real avenue to get a momentum up. The ( Read more... )

Fox had every intention of leaving Rob alone for a bit, letting him work out his issues with the shooting range himself. Only she couldn't help her curiosity, and had followed him. So much for not being a clingy girlfriend. Her nose crinkled a little at the idea. 'Clingy' and 'girlfriend' were two words she'd never expected to apply to herself, let alone together.

She watched as he rubbed his temple, and pushed off the post she'd been leaning against to come up behind him. Her hands brushed up his thighs, before she wrapped her arms around his middle and leaned against his back as she kissed his neck. "Give it time."

Rob felt some of the tension fall away and he laughed. "I need to get you a bell or something," he joked, turning his head a little so he could see her face. He gestured out at the target with a frustrated growl. "At least I didn't get him in the jugular this time."

Fox's lips curved into a smile. "Takes away the surprise, doesn't it? I like knowing I still have the ability to be stealthy when I need to." Her gaze left his face as she looked at the target. She had no doubt about his ability to shoot. This was more about his recovering health, than his skill level. "You'll find your rhythm again. Your body's been through a lot."

"I like the stealth. Keeps me on my toes. Stops me wallowing in my own self-pity when I fuck up a shot," Rob laughed. He looked at the target in the distance for a little longer before he turned around to face her. "So, you missed me, huh?"

Fox still hard her arms around him, and she nodded as she leaned in to kiss him. "I think I might for the first time in my life be experiencing separation anxiety. I've spent a lot of time by your side lately. Guess it's a harder habit to break than I thought."

Rob pretended to be thinking, pressing his lips together. Then he shook his head. "Nope, I can't come up with a single reason to argue with any of that. You're a way better need than clothes or food." He brushed his lips against hers in a soft kiss. "I have something for you."

Fox's hand slipped lower, and she gave his ass a squeeze through his pants as she smirked. "Well, I know it can't be a gun in your pocket. You didn't have to get me anything."

Rob's own hands crept down Fox's back towards her ass. He had to pause though to take something out of the pocket of his jacket. "I have naturally more impact than a gun," he said with a smirk and handed her a small flat box. "I had these made for you. I'm not even sure why. I just wanted you to have something that was part of me, like the fox tattoo you gave me."

"Still don't regret giving me carte blanche while you were unconscious?" she asked with an arch of her eyebrow. She kept the hand on his ass and used her other one to take the box, shooting him a questioning look before she flipped open the lid. She couldn't have even begun to guess what he was going to give her, especially when he talked about it being a part of him. Her fell on the replica dog tags, and she grinned. "This has got to be the most romantic thing anyone has ever given me. This kind of romance I can do."

"You can have carte blanche with me even when I'm conscious," Rob said with a grin. He gave the dog tags a small poke in the box with the tip of his finger. "You don't have to wear them. I just figured I'd claim some ownership in case any dude decides he wants to hone in on my territory," he joked.

"I'll remember that the next time I think of a tattoo for you." Fox reluctantly pulled her hand from his ass, and pulled the dog tags from the box. Without a second thought she pulled them over her head, the tags winding up nestled in the cleavage her tank top was showing. "Wesley's already convinced you'll shoot him while he's sitting on the toilet, and he's just my friend."

Rob laughed. "I'm not going to shoot your friend. You can tell him my aim is up the shit so he doesn't give himself a hernia." His eyes were on the dog tags tucked in her clevage with keen interest. "They, uh, look real good..."

Fox reached behind him to place the box next to his gun. "I will. He doesn't want to meet you in case you can read his mind," she informed him with a laugh. Fox's hands were back on Rob soon enough, and she glanced down at the dog tags. "Still don't want me to wear them? I'm pretty sure they'd look even better when I'm naked, and their the only thing on my body."

Rob laughed even more at this. "Are you serious? I'm a sniper, not a freak of nature. Everything I know took a lot of hard, physical work to hone down. Although, my slightly evil streak wants to dress up like the dude out of the Matrix and meet him wearing dark glasses just to see how he reacts," he admitted deviously. He ran his tongue along his lip and nodded. "Oh yeah, I think you should never take them off. And then naked should come after you wear them with just my camo pants."

Fox nodded, still laughing. "I'm serious. I almost feel bad for telling you, but it's worth it if you do decide to freak him out. He worked hard to become an assassin, but he seems to forget it all in the face of hearing you're a sniper. I'm disappointed he's forgotten everything I've taught him so quickly." Fox pushed her hands up under his shirt to run her palms over his bare skin. "I think I can manage that."

"I don't know. I'm probably just an unknown quantity to him. You made him an assassin from scratch, what could you do with someone like me who comes with similar skills already in tact? Plus, I'm another dude. He probably feels reflexively like he has to rival me," Rob said with a shrug. He let out a slow breath. "Remind me again why I got out of bed this morning?"
