[There's no sound in the background apart from chirping birds, the only indication of where Oz is. The video and picture function is turned off, and just Oz's voice, thoughtful and a little melancholy, comes through.]Every time I see posts about people disappearing, I wonder how that decision is made ( Read more... )

Don't you think it could just be random? If there was a purpose to it, they probably wouldn't pull people in here only to send them away again later. It's probably all just some sort of amusement to them to randomly pull people into this place and randomly send them away again, like they don't even really care.

I suppose it could be random but... it doesn't make sense that way. How would they choose who to bring? Who to send away? Decisions like this...there's usually some sort of reason.

If there's anything I've learned back home, it's that not everything has a reason. Some beings just delight in being cruel randomly, it's a fact of life.

And.. well, it isn't too difficult to explain, right? Maybe they have some sort of random setting on whatever they use to pull us here.

It just seems like...even random settings can't be all that random. There has to be some sort of setting...

[He lets out a breath.] Even at home, when things seem like they don't happen for a reason...

I don't know, there's always the possibility of picking randomly, right? Like putting your hand inside a jar and blindly grabbing around to get a cookie. That's pretty random.

Then you'd have to know...which jar. It seems like we're all picked from our homes... and our homes are nowhere near the same as one another's.

They could just select worlds people come from randomly as well? It's just a matter of picking a world and then a person, and both can be done randomly. Sometimes they get lucky and pick multiple people from the same world.

I suppose you're right! No need to get all thinking everything's a conspiracy.

If they would have picked up specifically, then there's the question why exactly they picked us, right? I don't think there's anything that interesting about me, to be honest.

There's always something interesting about everyone.

Isn't that just some kind of bullshit people sprout to make everyone feel good about themselves?

I mean, is there seriously something interesting enough about every single person to have a reason for pulling them into this place?

I think so. I think everyone's interesting in one way or another.

I don't really see it. I mean, I don't even see what's so interesting about myself, let alone about some other people. Maybe it's about their entertainment value in the Malnosso's eyes.

Everyone's definitely interesting in their own way. I'm sure you are too!

Yes. [He smiles.] No use being sad about things.
