Holy shit. That was absolutely FASCINATING, and beautifully done. I love the way you realised this concept, which is so beautifully original and resonant a crossover notion; having started off with Sherlock as Mycroft's daemon you did a terrific job of tracing the way that this would naturally make John's relationship with Mycroft unfold, and I believed every bloody word, even though it's not how I would have read the TV canon. But in this 'verse, yes, obviously, that's exactly how it would have to go. Damn.
Really lovely.
You've got a couple of wee niggly bits that want tightening up, beta-wise - the first paragraph rather repeats itself, which is a bit ungainly (and this will be very obvious when I podfic it, as I very firmly intend to do - rhea314 and I have both recorded the previous two stories & are even now doing interweaving things with them).
Unlike his younger brother, Mycroft Holmes actually does eat, John discovers when Mycroft appears to take his complaints to heart and has John brought to a restaurant instead of an

Oh yea, brilliant. I quite liked the first two stories and kept hoping you were going to continue.
Poor John, working from a deficit of data and always a step behind. I got to this John doesn't realize that their meetings together have been Mycroft's way of courting him, until the car pulls over to deliver him back to his flat. and I laughed because my first thought at the first restaurant was, oh they're on a date. But of course I started out knowing more than John.
Mycroft's reaction to Sherlock and John kissing on the couch suddenly made me feel sorry for him. How challenging it must have been sitting in his office getting all hot and bothered every time they'd gone at it. It must have felt very random and unexpected and at the very least annoying to have to hide what was happening to him from those who might have been around him.
I agree. Every time I read about John touching Sherlock, I immediately wondered what Mycroft was doing right then, especially when they were necking on the couch. Man, I bet Mycroft had the good sense to step out of any meetings he was in whenever they started that up.
It also made me feel sorry for Mycroft, since he's been experiencing that 'drowning/falling in love' sensation for-freaking-ever while John and Sherlock have been getting it on and John just turned him flat down (albeit for misinformed reasons). He must've felt so lonely.
It's not actually that bad for Mycroft; his and Sherlock's empathic bond gets weaker with distance (~maybe 5 miles or a mile or so), so he'd only feel it if Sherlock was feeling something intensely -- which is one reason Sherlock wasn't willing to have sex with John without Mycroft there.
He cares about Mycroft in his own way, he's just been really stupid/selfish about fucking up his relationship with Mycroft to further his own independence, since it's something he'd had to fight tooth and nail to get, and is deathly afraid of losing it.
Guh! I am speechless. I love this crossover. I read the previous parts as well but I felt too bad for Mycroft to really reread them and fawn over them... But this part, it made everything better. I loved the reluctant loyalty, I loved how both Sherlock and Mycroft gave hints and clues until John could figure it out for himself; and I loved the hot-hot sex. <3 Thank you

I'll admit I've only seen the bloody movie, but the sherlock/HDM crossovers are a kink for me and this one...Whoa.
Love this chapter the most I have to say!
