Those last five sentences suddenly made me realize there's something in my eyes.
They won't stop watering.

/This is a lovely piece, dear. I like the POV and just the voice of it all.

I'm so glad you liked it! Every time I see Billy with Penny, the back of my mind is like, "He's so cute. I bet he needs a hug," and Penny's definitely the compassionate sort such that she'd think it too.

>The thought makes her think of Billy-from-the-Laundromat, who hides in his clothes and jumps when startled and always, always looks like he needs a hug.
She wonders if this is how he feels all the time. She hopes not.

Aw! *clutches heart*

Poor Penny! Hammer is such a brute. And yes, Billy DOES need a hug, you blind mare! Gah!

Great stuff. :)

Hammer is a brute, and a jerk, and can be really mean at times (talking to Billy at the laundromat :( ). He buys into his own PR a little too much, and every time I think that, I go, "ow", because if Billy'd been patient and Penny hadn't died, she'd have dumped Hammer and then he'd have a chance.

This was really good. I could picture Captain Hammer's grin and hear his voice while I was reading it.

Wheeee! I was worried about his dialogue a little bit (I'm not Joss :O), so I'm really glad you liked it.

I think you nailed Hammer (pun intended. I REGRET NOTHING!), and this really opened my eyes as to why Penny thinks he's sweet. That was my favourite part: how well you wrote Penny's point of view. Your characterization is quite good. One think I didn't get: a garage with no roof-openy-thing. Does this mean that Hammer has a jet in his garage, but to get out it has to bust through the roof? Or was this a typo?

:D He's pretty. I REGRET NOTHING.

I'm glad Penny rang true for you. She's too nice to be angry when someone does something rude on accident, and a lot of Hammer's "being a jerkface" can be explained by "he never learned not to do that" (with a little willful ignorance), and she kind of seems like the type of girl who's used to being bowled over by demanding guys, so having one (A JOCK) explicitly seek out her approval must be novel enough for her to still be flattered by it.

Also, yes. Hammer has the Hamjet he mentions in the show in his garage, but if he wants to fly it, he will bust through the roof and probably wreck a bunch of things because he has no runway strip thing either (don't jets need those too?). BUT CHICKS DIG IT.

Agh. Now I really want to give Penny a hug.

This was really interesting and insightful, and also kind of hilarious at times, with how completely clueless Hammer is. Great job!
