So I got back from Otakon two days ago, and I must say it was pretty great. Twenty thousand people showed up for this thing so it was pretty big. There were 7 theatres running from 9am to 2am showing either anime or AMVs. On top of that they had a 35mm room showing old movies like Hidden Fortress. There were a bunch of panels and workshops where you could learn to do things, like make AMVs, or ask questions. I got to meet the writers of some of my favorite webcomics and that made me happy.
The dealers' room was huge. All the major anime companies, ADV, Gainax, Funimation, and so on, were represented and handed out freebies. They, along with the other dealers, offered huge discounts on anime, everything was at least 20% off the normal price. I ended up buying Excel Saga and Goldenboy, both of them were the complete series and I got them at decent prices.
Last night, I went to go see Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle with Rachel. It was pretty funny and I was happy with it. We got a bag of Jelly Beans and snuck them in because, well, its tradition.
Right now, I'm sitting here eating pierogies, playing poker, listening to music, and I'm pretty content. Pierogies make me happy, poker makes me happy, music makes me happy. On that note, long drives alone listening to music make me happy, long drives and talking to someone makes me happy as well. It's funny how the little things in life can make you happy.
