Ah, so you had Gillian with the idea of starting the biz? Interesting. I can see that. Well, when it's well written, the reader can see anything ;)
I love how you've depicted Zoe. Very realistic and in character. I wonder how much of their relationship has threatened her. Or at least given her reason to doubt him. Besides, I'd have been all WTF what is Queen Serenity doing in my kitchen with my husband and child?
The part that I kind of want to print out and post to my wall is this:
He wonders how he can make up ENTIRE PARAGRAPH.
I was just commenting on this elsewhere but what struck me was that one of the first things Gillian ever said to Cal was that she was here to help him. Not that it's her sole purpose in life, but this lays the groundwork for their entire relationship. Since the beginning, she's been in that role, by profession and later, by choice. More and more I'm understanding the dynamics of their relationship, because for him, Foster is his touchstone, she is the friend who happens to have a very ( ... )

That's so good to hear, because I was incredibly nervous about writing Zoe. I'm glad I managed to get her right.
I agree with what you said about Gillian, how she only lets a select group of people really get to know her. And she's most definitely his touchstone. I don't think she even realises how much.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such detailed comments. I'm really happy you liked this!

Seriously, i just saw this whole thing play right before my eyes. I loved that you made it Gillian who came up with the idea of the business and him asking her to join him even though they didn't know each other even close to well enough. I can just see that whole scenario as something that definitely happened in canon.
He likes the contradictions she embodies; smart and refined, yet casual and genuine. -- This was my FAVOURITE. This is just her, it's how i've always seen her from the very beginning and i love that you were able to capture her essence in so few words ( ... )

The thing I love most that you always say is that you're able to see it. I can see it, so vividly, but to know that I've managed to write it in a way that allows you to see it too is amazing. I try to get better with every fic I write so this is a wonderful learning curve for me, and your comments really help with that.
I love that you picked out that line. It's one of my favourites, because it's just how I see her. I know a lot of people in the fandom see her as being darker underneath it all, but I don't. I think she has the capacity for dark when it's needed (such as when she goes to all lengths to protect someone she loves, or just because it's the right thing to do) but I think she's inherently light and good.
I'm so glad to hear that my Zoe is realistic. I was so nervous about writing her (just ask TT!). I'd love to see more Gillian/Zoe scenes, too. I hope we get some in the upcoming episodes.
Thank you, bb ♥
