I think if we chose a canon-esque character for Gwen from the new movie (and I'm proud to say I got to see it for the first time just this week!) I'd have Gwen as that Operations/Security friend of Uhura's that was not only in the bar in Iowa, but on the Enterprise. Y'know, "Cupcake"? Even with the mustache. >:)

Or, she could be Pike's #1 (played brilliantly by the dearly departed Majel Barrett-Roddenberry in "The Cage")... y'know cool under fire, but dies horribly to allow others advancement.

No! I should stop the Gwen bashing. I should.

Good story! Thank you for sharing it.

I saw the new movie twice. Within 3 days...

I wracked my brain for a suitable 'Gwen' but... yeah, just couldn't really come up with a good one.

Sorry if I'm butting in: I could go one of two ways with Gwen - as someone who comes between the main pairing, she might be good as Uhura

OR

as someone who disturbs the natural order just by showing up and often creates disaster, then she might be good as Nero.

Nero! Puh-leeze don't insult Uhura that way. :)

LOL...I don't know what I was thinking - sorry. Thinking about it, Nero came between the pair too, since he tried to kill them. I'd say Gwen was definitely Nero. *G*
