I'm really curious what you all thing about the abundance of OT gmail invite posts in various communities on LJ. And, I suppose, what you think about OT posts in communities in general.
I just had a discussion with someone who posted gmail invites in a community about herbs. The mod made a post saying that gmail invite posts are not welcome, and the woman responded rather childishly, I thought. I told her it wasn't about her so much (I like her and her contributions to the community, and didn't say anything about it in her original post), but more about OT posts and netiquette. She said that since she didn't see anything in the community rules specifically forbidding gmail invite posts, she thought it was okay.
Is this the basic attitude that people have about OT posts and community rules? Do you have any gmail invite horror stories, want to vent, tell me I'm wrong and petty and should just scroll by? I'd love your thoughts.
