The Pearl Fishers

I went to the Opera last night. I bought the tickets ages ago and Josh and I were meant to go together. But due to the whole breaking up thing, I thought that would be awkward! I'd put off inviting someone because the person had to be a student (it was a student ticket) and I didn't know who. I ended up inviting my friend Angela and we had a really good time. We grabbed dinner at an oriental cafe first and had good conversation, then went on to the theatre.

I really enjoyed it, moreso than the ballet. I think I appreciate the beauty in singing more than in dancing. Not that ballet isn't excellent and requires so much dancing skills! But I love to sing and hearing singers - so I liked it better. I'm inspired to go to the opera more often now.

The main duet that The Pearl Fishers is famous for is this one and it really is very beautiful. Have it playing in the background while you do something else. These two guys are singing about the beautiful woman they both fell in love with and remembering when they first saw her, but then she went away and they were both heartbroken and decided that this beautiful woman had united them together and vowed to always be friends.
