Christmas for Kat

Dec 26, 2008 08:33

Despite all nervous feelings, Christmas at Josh's house was really nice! The food was excellent and his family were all super nice and made me feel welcome - though I was a bit overwhelmed to start with. Josh gave me Carcassonne and we played a couple of games of that. We all played croquet in the backyard and chilled out during the afternoon. His Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents were all very nice and I even received a present from his parents which made me feel all special and included. ^.^

So the day was just lovely! Today we are going on a picnic and if the wind stays down, hopefully the beach too with other friends.

I was thinking about how in previous years, I've received a bunch of presents from my family and how this year, I wasn't getting so much. In fact, as each day came around this year, Heather might get another parcel in the mail from her relatives over east, while I wouldn't get anything in the mail. This was slightly depressing at first, but as I continued to think about it, I was ok with that. After all, I've already received two amazing gifts from God this year. Firstly, my wonderful boyfriend. Secondly and most importantly, a growing awareness and understanding of what God has done for us in Jesus.

God himself came to earth in human form. The creator of the universe condescended to us as a baby! A helpless, dependant baby. He did this so that 33 years later, he would die on the cross as a propitiation sacrifice so that we can be reconciled to God and God's justice and love would not be compromised. This year I was very aware of this and it really made the holiday very worthwhile. Yay! ^.^
