Another big update
I spilled coke on my keyboard yesterday so some of the keys are stiff now. Good going me.
Work:
Work is going well. Things are finally starting to pick up for the fall which means more business and hopefully a raise some time in the future. I love the job though so I can't complain too much. It'd be nice if I lived closer but with our current transportation limits, that's not really possible. Other then that, the job is perfect. It's nice to finally be at a place I know I could settle into for a long time if desired.
TV:
Fall brings new shows and we're actually watching a few this year.
Mondays:
Chuck - pretty funny so far. the main premise has some significant flaws but its a fun show if you suspend disbelief.
Heroes - there are some great arcs starting. the sylar thing looks like it could be fun. I have zero interest in the brother/sister though. the kinsei thing got better but its still a bit annoying. DL seems to be officially gone, which sorta sucks. last night set up some great cliffhangers for the future as well.
Journeyman - I'm really liking this show so far. Its tough to pull off a mutli-dimensional love triangle as well as they do. Its always cool at the end to see what kind of impact he managed to make.
Tuesdays:
Bones - Its the wife's show more then mine but its still fun. I like the characters though and Micheala Conlin is hot so why not?
House - I wasn't sure if I would go for this season with the casting changes, but House's 'audition' segments are funny as hell so far. I like some of the new members, (Kal Pen is funny as usual), but I have a feeling it will all end up for nothing by the end of the season
We've been taping Reaper as well since we don't have a DVR. I enjoy it a lot so far.
Wednesday:
Life - I really like the show so far. We've been watching Bionic Woman too, but I don't have any real attachment to it.
Thursday:
The wife likes Smallville and Supernatural. I like Earl and the Office. Typically we just watch a movie or go out.
Friday - Sunday:
Haven't really latched onto anything so far.
FFXI
So it's been an odd month. I applied to Ultima a while back. A lot of my friends are there and Unwanted really fell apart after the WTF split. Really, everything after the DF split has been pretty fractured. No one in Unwanted was planning any events and I like to do things other then level, so I was happy to run with Ultima occasionally during the app period. This resulted in me acquiring a Love Halberd a few weeks ago which is pretty hot. That same day they put me up for vote and somehow I managed to get in. It sucked to leave my friends in Unwanted but since its a social shell mainly, I can stop in to check on everyone. Most people are spread out all over a bunch of different shells though. If all else fails, there's always /tell.
Then, the bottom fell out. As
ono_valefor and numerous, numerous forums have reported, our linkshell got hacked. The cliffs: a notorious 'hacker' in the FFXI community had a beef with one of our former members. As a result, he got bored and hacked into our forums. He dumped a backup onto his machine and got into the PM database. Anyone that sent their info over PMs got their accounts jacked and moved to another server. All in all, 8 accounts got moved including the shellholder and one sack. The characters were mostly stripped of gear though most r/e gear including Garret's Aegis were kept.
As knowledge of what happened spread, most of the people affected got their accounts back. I was concerned for a friend of mine though because he happened to be pretty sick. I asked the hacker for my friend's info and he gave it to me along with his own. I got my friend's password changed and logged into the hacker's account. A lot of the big money gear was still there and I was able to hand it back out again. Two accounts were moved to Hades and were completely stripped. Nothing was recovered on either of those accounts. Essentially the guy that did it kept enough big money gear that he and his buddies can sell and never have to think about gil again.
As it stands, of the 8 accounts moved: 1 account was deactivated and a second will probably be deactivated soon. Four accounts are stuck on Leviathan and two are stuck on Hades. SE will not reverse any of the transfers. Numerous calls and emails have resulted in escalations and inquiries but no action. DX was reformed since Garret got moved. Sassafras made a new shell, so we are now DynamisXII. lol Oh well, the runs themselves are continuing well. I'm stepping into a more active leadership role in the mean time.
As far as jobs go, WHM is just under 69 now. I hope to have it to 75 by the end of the month. After that I'll have to focus on subs (NIN, SMN) and work on my staff and club skill. The new expansion is around the corner so I hope I can get ZM16, AM44 and Apocalypse Nigh done some time soon..
