now, i don't want to jinx this whole thing by talking about it, but we are just too damned excited...
we found the most beautiful, wonderful, can't-beleive-its-not-butter apartment ever.
we are talkin' SWANK pad.
allow me to draw you a mental picture.
2 family house on a quiet street in the italian section of medford.
nice painted front porch with flowers on it.
first floor apartment - above street level.
you walk in - there is a foyer - to your right, a lovely, comfortable sized living room. moving toward the back of the house is a large formal dining room with a beautiful built in hutch. moving further back still is a HUGE ASS PIMPIN' SUPA DUPA kitchen. dishwasher, giant wall of cabinets, spanish tile backsplash, and counterspace counterspace counterspace. and out the back door is a lovely little deck and backyard with a wood fence and pretty grass and plants and rose bushes.
and THEN ...
to the left side of this wonderful kitchen is a big mother bedroom (in front of you, past the bathroom, when you're in the foyer) that amy and i are going to wrestle for, and also in front of you when you're in the foyer is a STAIRCASE.
yes, a STAIRCASE, which leads you to a SECOND LEVEL.
and on said second level are two smaller bedrooms. very cute.
closets in each bedroom, a linen closet, a big, clean basement (not scary like the one we have now) with a washer and dryer (not the pay kind - amy's favorite part about the apartment).
Now, this may not all impress you. You're probably thinking "wow, that sounds nice, but it in the boston area, it could be like that and be a total dive..."
But, oh my friends, i tell you - dive, it is not.
it is SWANK SWANK SUPA SWANK.
it makes the place we live in now look like a total hole.
beautiful hard wood floors, bright, sunny windows, each room is painted a different beautiful color - bold colors, not pansy ones, everything is brand new in the kitchen, there is molding everywhere - and not crappy molding that has been there forever and been painted over 17 times and not new cheap molding from building 19 - oh no, my friends, we are talking that natural, rich looking wood finish molding all over the place (matching the built in hutch).
we're talking brushed pewter light fixtures and door knobs (these impressed me most - the doorknobs... i kept saying "amy, did you see? even the doorknobs were beautiful!"), a chandelier - every detail taken care of.
i mean, the owners of the house lived in this apartment themselves for 3 years - the husband is a contractor (and every contractor i know has made their home beautiful like this, cuz they can and only pay for materials...).
the place is SWANKville.
and they are totally cool with the cats!
they didn't even flinch.
and, the best part - its all within our price range (which it should be well out of...)
so, we were the first people to see this place today, and we just gushed over it (i think this was a jumbo cup for all of us). so she gave us the lease and the applications, we took them home, filled them out and brought them back later in the afternoon.
she's going to call our references tomorrow or monday and then let us know. she said that we are at the top of the list - basically, if our references check out (which they will - i put down my bosses and amy and amanda both put down people who love them), the place is ours.
but, i hope this doesn't jinx it.
i would cry.
and you don't want to see me cry.
i get violent.
all day we've been going "i can't believe how fucking beautiful that place is.... we are so not worthy."
i wouldn't even be posting about it if we weren't so amazed by the shear fact that this apartment might somehow come into our possession. come september, we are going to be some very happy young ladies.
::sigh::
even the doorknobs are beautiful!
