Today I learned that my mom is even hypercritical about the appearances of people on tv, and not just me. It was strangely comforting.
My mom was watching a morning talk show that has several hosts. When one of the hosts had a close-up, she exclaimed, "That host is so ugly! At least she's funny." I was shocked she was so blunt, but I should have reserved my shock for when she said, "She's so skinny, and her eyes look like they're going to pop out of her face. And her glasses-- four eyes. So ugly." At this point, I feel the need to come to this woman's defense.
Me: I don't think she's ugly. She has very pretty hair. And her glasses are nice. I will say that her nose isn't great.
Mom: How can you say that?! She's so ugly! She has a good personality, but that's it. Just look at her. And she's standing next to someone who's so pretty.
So at least my mom hates on everyone.
PS: I think glasses are sexy.
