Been a While

Well it's really been a while since I last posted. Busy with work and finals and all that. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ready for this semester to be over and done with. I'm looking forward to some down time.

Yeah...especially after what happened last Friday.

Last Thursday I had three papers to write that night so after work I began to start on them. Unfortuneately, my adderall had run it's course so I decided to try some of those NoDoze pills to help me focus and stay awake.

They did help me focus, but well, I hyper-focused and didn't eat or drink much (I did have dinner at Wendy's though that night, and a hot almond milk from Roscoe's) that night.
I managed to get through most of my paper and then around three I woke Brad up (who'd been sleeping on the couch at this time to stay with me and help me keep on task, the sweetheart) and we went to bed around 3 a.m.

Well two and a half hours later I wake up to go to the bathroom and discover I'm really not feeling very well and I get light-headed on my way back to bed. I wake him up to let him know that I think something is wrong with me, because I feel like I'm going to pass out and throw up all at the same time. I think that my blood sugar has crashed, so I ask him to get me a glass of orange juice. All that did was make me feel worse, and then I did throw up after he tried to get me to eat a little of a nutrigrain bar. Well I then asked for some water so that I could rinse my mouth out and so he got me one. He refilled my cup and then I drank it down slowly and then we fell back asleep for about a half hour and then I woke up when he started to get ready for work and threw up again. I was also very very pale and he noticed that my skin was very dry and loose.

So what does my hero do? The man hops onto his computer and searches for the symptoms of dehydration. All the while I'm feeling woozy and nearly loose conciousness a few times. Not good.

He calls in to work and then he takes me to Goddard Health Center where I was assesed by a nurse who took my blood pressure and heart rate laying down, sitting, and standing. I didn't see what my heart rate was when I was lying down (I was too busy trying to keep from getting sick), but sitting it was about 110 and standing it was about 144.

Well I was sick two more times before the Physician's Assistant came in and said that she was going to give me a bag of fluids and a shot of some anti nausia stuff and then write me a prescription for the same in pill form.

I was taken to a procedure's room and then a nice nurse named Augusta came in a gave me an IV of fluids and the shot of the medicine. My only complaint about the whole thing is that she hit only muscle when she gave me the shot in my butt and it hurt for like six hours afterwards. Oh, and the IV fluid was cold and therefore made me even colder in the already freezing room.

While I was there Brad kept me occupied by inferring about why a baby was there. We could hear her the entire time we were there. I asked Augusta when she came in and found out that it was a two-month-old girl that was being weighed and given whatever immunizations they give at that age. Brad didn't believe me when I'd told him earlier that the baby was likely going to be getting a shot while it was there. About five minutes later there was a lot of crying. I have one phrase for him...lol..."I know what happened to the baby..."

Well afterwards I was put on the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast) so that my stomach wouldn't be farther shocked by lack of food and water. Fun diet. Very boring and my stomach is still kind of sensitive.

Good news, lesson learned: Drink water while studing, no more caffine pills.

dehydration, goddard
