A quick advertisement, note and photos
Anyone in the Boston area who wants to try his or her hand at tournament chess should come down to BU this Saturday. It's a 4 round tournament (though you can take up to 2 byes if you don't feel like being there all day) of 60 minute games (you and your opponent will each get 60 minutes, so each game will take up to 2 hours). This tends to be a fun tournament and usually brings out a lot of "non chessplayers" so even if you only play chess casually you won't be totally over your head in the lowest section.

Finally, I recently did some photography at a show at the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge and got some shots I was really quite happy with:
