The four of us were already factioned. Hamilton and Ilona had powers of the Senior Partners and had already had a minor clash where Hamilton just learned about it, and received a broken nose for his cocky trouble. Harmony started with her first, and Harmony got pinned against the wall. Harmony and I wouldn’t be sharing a Heineken and an O-Positive anytime soon, either. Harmony had already, much to my chagrin, pounded me, which I didn’t expect, but hey, she just got lucky that time around, although, she was about to drain me when the Senior Partners stepped in.
I’m sure that the Senior Partners were looking down at the four of us wondering what they had got themselves into and if rebuilding after the destruction of their most powerful allies on Earth in the Circle of the Black Thorn murders, along with most of the demons that worked for them, at Angel’s teams hands, was even worth it, or possible.
I thought about it. I wondered if they would be better off to try an apocalypse somewhere else? There could be menace brought forth elsewhere. Los Angeles was the king city of the demon, but Prague probably wasn’t too far behind it and there wasn’t a slayer there to defend it, let alone a group of them along with the pain in the ass vampire with a soul. My vengeance plans for Angel trying to kill me using Lorne were on hold, but I really had to believe that we could do more damage abroad…not that I wanted to go to Europe for an extended period. London would be a great place to go, but hey, if not London or Prague, why not Miami? Things would be smooth there. The climate was nice and I knew that Ilona would like South beach more then South Central.
Mr. Savarda decided to grace us with another visit and I didn’t believe this would go too well.
He lectured us about in fighting and if we had to use violence, then we should use it on innocent people in a way that didn’t affect the business. We all expected that and were all quiet.
Then, he got into the heart of the matter, so to speak.
”Our losses tonight were devastating. The very warrior that we wanted to turn dark and hoped that having him run our central branch would make it so, has eliminated the great majority of our demons here in Los Angeles. Plans have been set in motion for the four of you to start recruiting here in Los Angeles, but things change and unfortunately, we feel that we will be unsuccessful in defeating the Angel, Spike and the vampire slayers, four of whom survived, here in Los Angeles. Assassination has been discussed and we feel that the group here in Los Angeles will thwart any attempts we make and leave us without our greatest warriors, Marcus and Ilona. Therefore, the London office has an opening for four and is the second greatest earner in all of our chains. The apocalypse stands a far greater chance of being successful there. You will be leaving immediately. Ilona will head the London branch, and Marcus will be in charge of covert operations. There were some who disagreed with this agenda in London, and they have been dealt with. Lindsey, you will head legal there. I don’t believe that you will be in opposition to this when you meet your head counselor. Harmony, you will assist Hamilton and we expect you to use the same violence that you used on Lindsey here in this very office when there, except, not on Lindsey. Ilona, you oversee everything and I believe that you will have no trouble in making things work. You and Marcus shall not butt heads. When it comes to covert operations, Hamilton has the final say, but Ilona should be copied on all important matters. You have a feud there between vampires and lycans. We believe that this will be very promoting in terms of our agenda and there are two vampires in particular that I believe Marcus at minimum knows of. Fangdan and Rory should be utilized. They will be compensated richly for any services that they render and in turn, we will help them with their legion’s issues with lycans. This will stir up the underground and promote wars that we find favorable. London is most decadent and because of this massacre, virtually free of slayers and most importantly, even if slayers return to their Council, it too will become a target if such force is required, however, we don’t believe that it will be. We don’t believe that anyone will be the wiser in London, even if there is a veritable increase in violence and violent acts. Also, at this very second, a slayer is at the hands of one of our more favorable allies, in the Immortal. She is enraptured in him and vulnerable. We will see to it that she is given an evil overhaul before we leave and will be hard pressed to find a life outside of evil that she will endure. It will be a painful process for her, but once it is over, you will have yourself another very powerful ally, especially against the Watcher’s council there, which is in shambles, currently, but nevertheless, if Buffy Summers and the like return home, they will be facing Wolfram and Hart with a slayer who can basically be programmed and without touching her. The Immortal will handle this after her most painful operation, which will be performed at any day now, here. Do not be surprised by the Immortal’s arrival with Jada Silver. One side note to this, and something that we have to be cognizant of, is that another former ally of our Hamburg office in particular, has seen fit to bring Cordelia Chase back to life. We do not know if her visions are intact, but Angel’s team may well be alerted to this move. The Eternal is responsible for this and as Ilona and Marcus in particular know, he is the Immortal’s brother. There is the chance that he will sense his brother’s move and actions. Of that, we cannot be sure. If it is the case, then we may be facing the same unit in London, however, we have more demons there then here and feel that it is the new home office. When I leave this room, you are to report to the elevator. From there, it will become your own portal and you will arrive in the London office. Good luck, and do not fail us.”
He left and I was stunned. I didn’t know what he meant by me being happy with who I would be working with, but the rest of it was too much to comprehend. Ilona told us to follow to the elevator and we did, and once there, things got very bright, and suddenly, it wasn’t night anymore and we were all standing in the CEO’s office.
