1. After buying textbooks, wait until the semester starts before you spend your left-over student loan money on car repairs and back-to-school-clothes and dental work. Some professor will always add a required textbook or other material you can't afford.
2. If your favorite sweater gets ruined in the washing machine, ignore the above rule and go ahead and spend student loan money on a replacement sweater. By the time you have the money, it will be sold out.
