I have just noticed that my last post was way the heck back in February. There's no way I'm about to catch up on 6 months of happenings tonight--not that it's really necessary to fill in every detail anyway--but I thought I'd write a quick little post here pre-move...
In just a couple days I'll be moving to the fair city of Boston, for piano tech training at NBSS. I got a nice little studio apartment (with separate entry hallway/closet and kitchen) smack-dab in the middle of the North End, which is all kinds of awesome. I have my little daydreams of what kind of independent city woman I'll be, with scarves and high-heeled boots, a knack for cooking, and hip city friends; a fledgling piano technician and a competent copy-editor on the side. [I did get that editing job I mentioned way back in February--though it was a while before I got any work so I'm still quite the rookie.] And then I remember how awkward I am half the time and it's a much less graceful image, haha! But it'll be fun. I'm excited to get down there and start with what can cheesily be called my "new life"--not so excited about finishing all these errands, and all this packing, though. Ugh, moving. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
I've recently spent some quality time with some really, really great people (my lady-coworkers at WREN, my ridiculously lovely musician-friends in Saratoga, and my hometown best friend and her increasingly adorable 2-year-old daughter) before the move, and with all that support and shared excitement, I'm not as apprehensive as I might otherwise be... for now. I've been to Boston umpteen times and know my way around on foot fairly well, but it remains to be seen how entirely different it will be to LIVE there. But people move to the city all the time, right? No big deal, right?
I'm almost there, Boston... please don't eat me. ;)
