On cutting my friends list

Dec 03, 2004 20:33

I've thought about this for quite a while now, and now have decided to follow the example of some others who have been cutting their friends lists recently.

Please understand that I don't mean any harm by cutting several (not too many) people. My reasons are plain and simple:

I have a few names on my list who almost never comment on my entries, and I find myself doing the same quite often. It's not that I don't like those people; I rather think it has to make with some shifting of interests, which is perfectly normal. Or, there are journals that are abandoned for months, and it isn't sure the people will ever come back. ;)

Then, I have limited time to read and comment, but I'd like to keep up with my friends somehow. I feel that I can't keep up with all of you, and often cannot leave proper comments. I have the same reason shirebound has mentioned a while ago as well: "I'd like to pare the list down to the folks who -- even just occasionally -- show an interest in my LJ/life/interests -- whether by being supportive in good or bad times, a comment to a fic here and there, or generally saying "hi" once in a while."
I don't think I could find better words to express how I feel about it. :)

So, to make this post not too confusing:

If you think you belong to those I might cut and want to stay with me, please leave a comment then. :) I'd hate to cut folks who barely comment, but are still interested in my posts.
