Friday was the "Sock Hop" which i was really looking forward to.
But damn, turns out it was only an hour, they played like 2 50s songs, one of which i wasnt even there for.
The rest was like hiphoppsh stuff, and turns out you really look like a douche when youre the only one in the crowd moving....gah
Anyway, after that had a jam session with the other flashbangers to prep for daves party, since we didnt even try to see if the song (chop suey) would work.
Before we got to youssefs decided to go to long and mac to check out some gift ideas for dave...and we did, we all chipped in and got him 5 lovely 20$ bills, and 2 tens...lol But i gave him my spare Steve Gadd drumsticks, and he seemed really happy about it, he liked them a lot.
Anywho, got a bite to eat, some shwarma(no idea how to spell), and went to youssefs.
Jammed for a bit, and turns out the song actually does sound pretty good lol, so we worked on it for a while, and booya, we were ready for saturday.
Saturday...wake up, with my mom in my room telling my to clean my closet out, get rid of everything i probably wont wear within the next 3 months, and position all of my clothes in a manner that is very cosmetic, ie place all shirts in the same direction, collars away from view...yes she actually made me do this...lol. Mind you this is like an hour before i have to leave. By the time i get everything sorted, and half the stuff folded (which is like 2 hours later...lol) i realize im an hour late for soundcheck.
Anyway, i get ready and make my way to daves party.
Get there, and receive a warm welcome, the guys are there and strumming, everything is set up, and omg it was really exciting, like an artist approaching all of his little brushes or w/e lol.
Josh picks up his guitar and finally gets his chance to play with lloyd and myself, man, he is one talented guy...i felt so proud, he actually said i was awesome and that he was really waiting for a chance to play with us...woot.
Then chris comes and we all decide to try "killing in the name of" by rage against the machine, kick ass song...but weve never played it before, so i didnt know what to expect.
Holy crap it was cool, josh actually sang the bridge...for those of you unfamiliar with the lyrics of the bridge, it goes....
fuck you...i wont do what you tell me, fuck you...i wont do what you tell me, fuck you...i wont do what you tell me, (And at the top of his lungs into the microphone)
FUCK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME
FUCK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME
FUCK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!!!!!
of course at this point im bashing the hell out of daves drums lol
it was so cool, there was so much energy it was sic.
It was awesome just for a pick up song.
Anyway, the party was cool, stone free (composed of: Josh, Dave, Chris, and Matt) played a killer set.
Then it was the flashbangers turn lol (composed of: Moi, Lloyd, Jon, EM, and Youssef) and....
BOOM WE FUCKIN ROCKED THAT PLACE, lol....we played superman (by goldfinger) and chop suey(system of a down)...lol it was soooo unbelievably fun. I have never been so into a song in my life. My black sticks were barely black anymore lol. People in the audience were partly singing along, or at least the poeple who like soad were. I just feel really disappointed that we couldnt play this set at the talent show audition. Anyway, the evening was followed by poker, xbox tournament (party animals), and an open dancefloor (practically empty...but open lol), a nice drum solo by dave, followed by another one by myself, the guys playing a bit of stuff on their guitars...it was a music filled evening, and it was really a cool party.
Oh man, im probably never playing poker again, an hour and a half into the game and only one guy is gone...after realizing i would have to play against the other people from the other table i just went all in with a pair of 7s and lost...but at least i got to leave the game.
Anyway, got to dance for a bit, however it kinda paralleled the sock hop seeing as how it was basically myself and laura, haze n matt, and jeremy for a bit.
I realized how hard it is to move to hip hop with a partner when its...only you and your partner on the floor...oh man.
After a while we tried to teach nick how to dance, it was so fun.
Nick and Mina are awesome people, Mina trying to play matchmaker, Nick trying to play the perverted supportive buddy...priceless..
Mina: Nick you are the shallowest, dirtiest guy i know (laughingly of course)
Nick: Hey, I am not shallow!
lol
Its so funny to see them "cheering" you on from a distance.
Anyway, i had a great time. I hope we all get to get together again soon.
It was an awesome experience to just hang out and jam with everyone, and actually dance.
