wow

ok, even though i am dead tired
and falling asleep right here in the chair,
i'm going to write!
i want to get it all done while it is fresh.

we'll start from the beginning.

flew out friday night, flight was delayed, got here late at night, went to my grandma's, spent the night.
then saturday, we woke up early and made our way out to the Valparaiso Christ College Visit day.
The details are mundane, so i will spare you.
but from there, i came here (martha's) got here about 6pm last night, martha and i got ready, went out around town a little getting stuff for her mom and then going to 7-11. NOTHING beats their slurpies. Then we came back here, tried to deicde what we were going to do, but we didn't really a like a lot of the other plans that other people were making... so, come about 9 we decide we want to go downtown. so we immediately made out way to the traIN station, and went downtown chicago. the city was BEAUTIFUL. Lake michigan and the Tribune tower had green lights reflected on them. it was a clear yet cool night. absolutely beautiful.
we then walked to our FAVORITE restaurant, ED DEBEVICS.
it was a quality visit.
occassionally you get the waiters that are not fun OR mean to you. this time, we got both.
it was awesome. our waiter was officially annoyed with us, and was genuinely mean. I LOVED IT! then there was this wicked cute guy who was working as the host. he became our friend. haha
from there, we made it to a cab which we took back to the train. now, this doesn't sound exciting but it was. oh boy was it. i don't feel like typing the whole story, and it would be funnier in person anyways.
so we hop back on the train, and get back to crete around 12:30am.
from there we go on a mini roadtrip to BOONDOCK indiana to visit mike newhuis. now, this was exciting in and of itself. mike is an old junior high friend from DCCS (krist! remember mike?! i have that picture of him w/o a shirt... remember??). i was sooo excited to see him again. we were pretty good friends back in the day, (i secretely had a crush on him for so long, but then again, who didn't?!) so we got to his house are 2 am. it was CRAZY to see him after 4 years. he is virtually the same as before.
we chilled for a bit, then we decided to go to the beach!
he only lives a few minutes from lake michigan, so we made our way out.
once we got there, we started walking out,
but it was dark and cold
and we really couldn't see WHERE the water was, or where the sand was. it is strange and difficult to explain.
so we start walking out, and we're on this strange type of ground. it waas like snow, but not... i don't know... soo weird.
so we keep walking out, till we realize that there are "icebergs" in front of us from the water splashing up, and what we are currently standing on is ICE. we had been walking on the frozen lake for about 100 yards. once martha realized she raaaaan as fast as she could.
oh it was so much fun.
then we went back to mike's house
and ended up staying till like 5:30 AM. it was crazy
we did not at all expect or plan to stay up that late.
it was incredible to see him though. definitely worth it.
we reminisced about all the weird things we did as kids, and all the times at DCCS. it was such a good time!
after we left, we stocked up on coffee and food and made the vventure back to crete.
we stopped at round the clock at like 6 this morning and got the quality and traditional lemon rice soup. it was amazing.
then we went to the house that we are house sitting at,
and now i am HERE.
it has been one hell of a long but fuuuun night.
i love it here already.
it makes me so happy to be back.
i am glad we stayed up all night.
i want to be awake every moment i can
and do and see everyone/everything i can.
gah. i love it!

anyways, going to take a power nap before i have to go to church in like an hour. yippee!

i'll update more on the trip.
