On hot days, the water in my bike bottle is often quite warm by the time I get through even a shortish ride... after a fairly short time, I'm left with a mouthful of lukewarm water. Yuk.
This is mostly because bike bottles have zero insulation.
Solution: Put your water bottle inside an old sock (clean). Wet the sock prior to your ride.
Result: Nice, cold water. The sock adds insulation all by itself, wetting the sock turns it into a workable cooler. (a la the canvas waterbags you used to hang off your radiator grill. )
This low tech solution was arrived at after much discussion with friend, various hi-tech solutions having been tried and discarded... :D
