Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack: rarely snack when reading; I usually forget it's there. Sometimes read while eating non-messy meals.
What is your favorite drink while reading? Usually tea (which I sometimes forget and it gets cold.) Or water (which gets warm; I like it icy). Sometimes coffee when I'm reading the morning paper. Or if I'm in a coffee shop.
Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you? Can't say it *horrifies* me (horrify is a heavy word) but it's not something I do. (Unless you count stickies.)
How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open? Never dog-ear, NEVER. While I'll lay a book down for brief moments, but generally I just remember the page number. On occasion I'll use a bookmark of some sort (often the receipt for the book, if it's new).
Fiction, nonfiction, or both?
Both, depending on mood and what projects I have going. Though I do go through spurts where I can't handle anything heavy, and other times when I want the solidity of it.
Are you a person who tends to read to the end of a chapter, or can you stop anywhere?
I like to stop at the end of chapters, but can stop anywhere. I like reading anthologies in bed because that limits the desire to go onto the next chapter. But if a book really grabs me, I'll read it until I'm finished, even it takes all night. Or day.
Are you the type of person to throw a book across the room or on the floor if the author irritates you? Only figuratively. I can't do violence to even bad books. I've been known to rant and yell, though.
If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop and look it up right away? Not unless it completely breaks the sense of what I'm reading; usually context is enough. I tend to remember those words though, and investigate them later.
What are you currently reading? On a fiction kick at the moment:
Fantasy in Death, JD Robb (ebook), a friend's MS, and Bone and Jewel Creatures, E Bear.
What is the last book you bought?
Bone and Jewel Creatures - well, I pre-ordered it a while back but it just arrived. Other than that, Lowachee's Gaslight Dogs.
Are you the type of person that reads one book at a time, or can you read more than one? See above. Almost never just reading one.
Do you have a favorite time/place to read? Nope, they're all good.
Do you prefer series books or stand alones? No real preference, though my favourites seem to come in series.
Is there a specific book or author you find yourself recommending over and over?
Oh, so hard. It so depends on who I am recommending *to*.
How do you organize your books? (by genre, title, author’s last name, etc.)
Fiction separate from non-fiction and memoirs. Most trades separate from mass market and HC (I have shelves built to different heights, and I separate for efficiency.) Within those categories, alphabetically by author, then by series (occassionally modified by chronological order rather than pub date) and title for singles. Books I haven't yet read on a shelf by my bed, in a pile in my offices or on the hallway shelf.
