I created this lj identity for two reasons. The first was that I wanted an lj with a smaller, more selective friends list and second, because I wanted to have a place where I could do some serious writing ( Read more... )

Intrepid sounds neat.

I have to agree about MySpace though. I've only ever found it vaguely worthwhile for up-and-coming bands.

Trouble is that I really don't know exactly what I want to do yet. Just to write in a fertile environment. Thanks for the thought though. Will let you know if I want to try intrepid media.

Try deviantart.com as someone else mentioned. When I was dabbling in photography and computer based art I was on there as "wolfka." I also write on here... although not in a long time. But getting constructive critique has been always the bane of my existance - which is probably why I dropped writing as an identity. Hearing "Oh I liked that..." but not WHY someone liked it doesn't help with my ability to write, or to correct mistakes made.

Also have you thought of trying NaNoWriMo? I have several friends doing that... and I have tried once... but life got in the way of my goal.

One day I shall complete the fantasy novel i started 10 years ago... one day...

NaNoWriMo is only National November Writing Month and isn't really a forum for feedback on writing. That's a speed-writing contest where content doesn't matter and a 50,000 word count in 30 days does.

But once you've done it you can say you've written a novel.
Not that it means it'll get published...

Thanks for the clarification Geli. Hope that all is well with you and Fischer.

Fischer is doing what he does extremely well...
Being a dog. And a cute one at that.
Lately we've been watching an old veteran dog so it's been interested to see them interact. Nothing fun like Fischer and Chay though.

Personally, I do think lj is the best forum for writing purposes. It is the best forum for several social purposes as well, but I don't think that undermines it's value as a writing forum.

I agree with you on lj's usability but it just seems like a "sterile forum" in terms of interaction. but that could be just the limitation inherent in my friends list. I do post public most of the time but only once in awhile get something from off of my friends list.
