Character Name: Czeslaw Meyer, goes by the alias "Thomas"
Character Series: Baccano!
Character Age: 10 years old, but is actually over 230 years old in the year 1931.

Background: The year is 1711, Czeslaw is a normal 10 year-old boy traveling aboard a ship called the Advena Avis. His guardian, a man named Fermet, was part of a group of alchemists seeking to find the fabled 'cure-all elixir'. Their leader, Maiza, summoned a demon who then gave them the elixir, along with giving Maiza the knowledge to re-create it in the future if he so wished. By drinking this elixir, they all became something called an 'Immortal'. Any form of harm done to their bodies would be healed in just a matter of seconds. Your eyes were gouged out? Fixed. Your body dumped in acid? Fixed. The only downsides to this little deal were: 1) You still felt pain and 2) You never aged.

So what did you do to kill an Immortal? Well there's only one way. You eat them.

Eat? How? Easy. You put your right hand on their forehead and think 'I want to eat'. Bam. They are sucked up, and their memories are yours.

Immortals can't hide their identities from others, so if they are asked their name, they must answer the truth. This is how Czeslaw finds out himself who or who isn't a threat to him. Immortals also have the ability to transfer their thought to one another without eating them, you simply place your right hand on the others forehead like usual, but simply think of what you want them to know instead of thinking of eating them. There is only one Immortal among most of them who wishes for nothing better than to eat them all, and he goes by the name of Szilard.

This man isn't the only one Czeslaw is afraid of, he very rarely trusts anyone he comes across. If he is forced to use his real name he grows paranoid and hostile. Why? You might ask. Well, Czeslaw was tortured by his former 'guardian' Fermet. He was tortured by this man day in and day out, acid baths, hot pokers to the eye, being thrown into fires, you name it. Fermet probably did it. He told the poor kid it was to test the 'limits' of their newfound immortality--when in reality the man was simply sadistic. Due to 'dying' and being tortured so many times, Czeslaw finally snapped, eating Fermet while his gouged out eyes healed.

Without anyone to trust now, Czeslaw grew to hate the world around him. He would go through any means possible, even killing innocent bystanders, if it meant he himself could get away from another immortal. Czeslaw is now searching for Maiza, the one alchemist who is strong enough to stop Szilard. During his search, he hopped across the newly-made train, The Flying Pussyfoot, but little did he know that on this train, there were other Immortals like himself. Czeslaw himself, had planned to blow up the train, asking for the help of one of the 'White suit' gang leaders on the ship, who, at the time, was busy eliminating another gang themselves, the 'Black suits'. Also on the train, was an 'explosive' third gang, a female assassin working under the black suits, a seemingly normal conductor, a duo of Immortal comedic thieves, and the deadly legendary 'Rail Tracer'.

It has been said that this 'Rail Tracer' is a 'monster that chases after trains, under the cover of darkness, bit by bit it closes in on the train. It changes shape into various things.'

And what happens when it catches up?

The people disappear.

But why would Czeslaw be afraid of such a creature? Is there really a point? When the seemingly normal conductor takes on the role of the Rail Tracer, he shows Czeslaw a kind of pain that he had never experienced before in his 230 years of living. Getting his fingers bitten off, then having his arm stuck in the railroad tracks, on top of being tied to the bottom of the train to suffer... things don't look too good for Czes'. Until Isaac and Miria, the comedic Immortal duo, save him, and after seeing Isaac's cuts repair themselves Czeslaw tries to work up the will to eat Isaac. Shocked by their unbelievable kindness, he doesn't do it, instead telling the duo of what he had planned to do and how terrible he's been.

Fast forward a bit. We're off the Flying Pussyfoot.

Czeslaw comes face to face with Maiza, the whole reason he came on this journey to New York. To devour the one who summoned the demon that created the cure-all elixer. Trying to eat him first just wont work--Czes' can't raise his hand quick enough. Maiza rubs his head affectionately and that's when the tears start.

There's no way things could go back to the way they used to be! Not a chance--but Maiza doesn't eat him, and the two embrace. Czeslaw just wants things to be like they used to, maybe that can happen now?

Fast forward just one last time guys, I swear--Czes' is living with Ennis, a homonuculus created by Szilard. A girl in fatigues on a crutch comes by and calls Czeslaw out--didn't he die? The two talk somewhere more private, Rachel was on the Flying Pussyfoot too, and she's from the Daily Days information center. Czeslaw tells her everything, the whole story of the Immortals, himself, and the Flying Pussyfoot. When the Rail Tracer himself comes over to say hello to the two of them though, well, Czes' hasn't exactly forgotten him yet.

Stories never begin, and they never end. They are composed of people living. An endless cycle of interacting. Influencing each other and parting ways. There are some things that can only be told in a certain fashion...and the tale of the Immortals is one such thing.

Personality: Czeslaw's usual life is nothing more than an act, under the bright, cheerful, curious and polite personality, lies a more cynical and miserable boy. He tries to use others to get what he wants, but as soon as they harm him he shows his true colours, his tone lowering and his words harsh and more mature. Due to the sadistic behaviour of his old guardian Fermet, Czeslaw has turned into an extremely paranoid and untrusting kid. He's not above using people to get what he wants, or even going as far as to kill others just to get to one person. On the Flying Pussyfoot he was willing to pay a man by the name of Ladd to kill everyone in the dining cart simply to protect himself from one Immortal. This deal causes him to get shot, but after fixing his body up he decided he'll have to eat or be eaten.

Though, under all that acting and fake smiling, Czes' really is just a lonely kid. There's nothing he wants more than to have everything back to how it used to be. Back to how things were before his old friends were divided with the devil's elixir and their new immortality. He shows this when he starts crying and hugs Maiza upon meeting him in the train station. Being eternally ten has it's ups and downs, and one of those is changing from a child to an adult mindset without warning. Though Czes' can be considered a mature adult stuck in a child's body, some of his way of thinking is definitely childish as well. This is probably due to the fact he's been alone for two-hundred and thirty years, and had no official guardians to teach him about life like a regular child would have.

That cheerful kid that goes by the name of 'Thomas' in public, is a very polite young man. He's a sweet boy who puts others needs before himself--but isn't afraid to ask for help now and then when it's needed. Like any young boy his 'age' Thomas enjoys playing outside and other little boy things, though he doesn't let playing get in the way of his studies. Thomas is smart for his age, though he's not usually very social in big groups--he prefers one-on-one conversations or simply staying by himself.

Normally, Czes' only views people in a safe, and unsafe sense. Safe people are ones he can use and bend to his will, where the unsafe would be other Immortals--people who can harm him. He's learned a couple of things living for over 230 years, he's got connections and knows what to say to people to get what he wants, even having the appearance of a child. While extremely cautious, even complete strangers can tear down the walls he's built around himself--Isaac and Miria, the thieving duo on the train, have shown this. Despite being an Immortal without knowing, Isaac showed Czes' a kind of kindness that he wasn't used to in those harsh 230 years of his immortality.

Abilities: His abilities that come with being an Immortal; this power allows him to regenerate his body (no matter how destroyed), never age, 'eat' other Immortals, and most importantly, never die.

Sample Entry: Please! Can someone please help me? I think I'm really lost...

I was going home to see my family in New York, if someone helped me get back home, we'd be able to pay a lot! Money wouldn't be a problem...

So...can someone please help me? I'd be really grateful!
