Today's the beginning of the Year of the Rat! My year! ^__^ Happy New Year! Crap, that means I'm turning 24 this year. .___.
So I couldn't think of a better way to start off the year than to finally, finally start (re)watching Fruits Basket.
I have a very non-linear relationship with Fruits Basket. XD I saw the last two-thirds of the series in 2003 or so, started collecting the manga in...2006? Finally bought the (on sale) anime last month. And since my springkink fic was due yesterday (I didn't want to mix up my fandoms, especially when I have such a tenuous grasp on BLEACH), today I was finally free to start watching it.
Uwaaa~! ^____^ I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I watched 6 episodes today, which is a record for me (at least of the same show). It's so, so nice to see the beginning of the manga animated. It was a little weird to hear their voices (since I'd forgotten how they sounded in the years gone by and the manga and fanfic were my main sources of fandom), but I was fine by the end of the first episode.
I really love the opening them animation and song. I guess that has something to do with it being one of my favourite anime songs that I also performed? XD It's so beautiful and powerful how all the characters have their backs turned to the audience and are watching the feather/snow, except for Tohru at the very end.
The show's really hilarious. I love Shigure's "HAHAHAHAHA!" at Tohru when they find her in the tent. I kept on rewinding it and cracked up each time . XD The two most recent anime I've watched weren't comedies, so that might have something to do with it. >_>
I think they did a very good job in translating the manga to the anime. My only complaint is episode 6 is a bit too ridiculous with all the animal changing and Uo and Hana not noticing at all. (Well, maybe Hana did). They didn't transform at all in the manga.
I have a lot more to ramble about say, but I'll spare everyone and probably end up doing episode summaries sometime in the future, although they really won't serve any purpose except for personal satisfaction. X3
And I really, really hope that by the time I finish the series, I'll be able to write more Yuki/Kyo! And pick up my muse on that damn erased epic. D:
