Fatal Frame Wikipedia;
Beyond the Camera’s LensPulled In: Near the end of the game (any of the multiple endings being possible), where Mayu waits for her sister in the Hellish Abyss.
Loss: Weakened sixth sense for Mayu; she won't be able to sense ghosts, but she will still retain her ability to see choppy, static-filled black-and-white visions. Weakened spiritual powers for Sae, the ghost possessing her (so that she can’t kill people instantly adjfdhjk).
Personality: Mayu is a reserved, shy, and thoughtful young girl. Quiet, she doesn’t like to draw much attention to herself, not speaking loudly or too often. Intuitive, Mayu catches sight of things that might go unnoticed by others; sometimes she will brush it off or pretend she never saw anything (“Mio… Um, nevermind…”), keeping a lot to herself.
Mayu is very attached to her younger twin sister, Mio, even more so after the childhood accident that left a permanent limp in her right leg. Physically weak, she depends on Mio a lot throughout Fatal Frame II, often falling far behind while running away from ghosts (and getting frequently attacked by them in the process). Mayu’s biggest fear is being separated from Mio, resulting in their shared promise of being “together forever”. On one hand, Mayu’s love for her sister knows no bounds, but on the other, she can be selfish, wanting Mio’s attention for herself.
Like her twin, Mayu has a sixth sense that makes her aware of the spiritual world. She can see and hear ghosts, and also receives visions when she touches certain items or enters certain rooms. Visions appear black and white, often accompanied by static-like sounds. Mayu’s sixth sense is a double-edged sword; while more powerful than Mio’s, it also makes her more vulnerable to spirits - an easy target. This vulnerability allows a ghost by the name of Sae Kurosawa to possess her for the majority of Fatal Frame II. Thanks to her time spent in All God’s Village, Mayu is easily perturbed by the supernatural.
(Since I’ll be playing a possessed Mayu, here’s a short blurb on Sae, too, just in case.) Sae Kurosawa, the ghost possessing Mayu, is a vengeful ghost that emerged from the last failed Crimson Sacrifice Ritual. Tainted by Malice, she is unstable, unforgiving to those that killed her and took her twin sister Yae away; her maniacal laughter can often be heard when she attacks or gives chase. If not heard laughing, Sae is either pining for Mio, who she sees as her own twin, Yae (“Dear sister… are you leaving me again?”), or apologizing for her mistakes (“It's our fault for running away... We should have done the Ritual...”). Sae wishes to complete the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual by forcing Mio to kill her (and Mayu in the process).
Sample Journal Post: I’m out of the village now, but… my sister isn’t with me. It can’t be like this. We have to stay together!
What if she’s still there? No… no. Find me Mio, please… Please find a way out.
Don’t forget your promise, okay? Together forever. Please, don’t leave me alone again…
Sample RP Post: As soon as they had stepped into the Osaka house, Mayu felt cold. It wasn’t the same cold that surrounded her while walking down the hill and into All God’s Village, limping several steps behind her twin. The cold air inside the abandoned house felt suffocating, as if it were trying to strangle her. It was unnatural - it seeped deep down into her very bones.
She stood there, eyes wide and body shivering. The way she wouldn’t answer put Mio in a panic.
“Mayu?”
They weren’t alone. This house wasn’t abandoned. There was someone here, searching, ever searching. She wasn’t going to find the same man, no. He was changed, and he was going to change her, too-
“Mayu, what’s wrong?!”
Mio had touched her hand, felt what Mayu did as their sixth sense made a link. Overwhelmed, the younger twin flinched and tried to pull away, but Mayu snatched it back, holding her hand as tight as she could. She was scared the vision would drive her insane if her sister wasn’t there to ground her.
‘Where are you?’ the voices rang in her head, made her eardrums sore from the jumbled words, screaming, and laughter. ‘Masumi? Where are y- Where did you-’
The laughing wouldn’t stop. That insane, maniacal laughter, like a witch’s cackle.
‘I don’t want to kill anymore.’
Make it stop, Mio, Mayu pleaded silently, never letting go of that hand, please make it stop!
Suddenly she let go of her sister’s hand, the two of them gasping for breath and blinking hard, eyes wide open in terror. The vision had ended, but that cold feeling did not.
Mayu knew. Whatever she had seen with her sixth sense was still here.
“What was that?” There was a tremble in Mio’s voice, something she couldn’t hide, even when she was trying to be strong for her sister.
All Mayu could do was shake her head slowly and hold herself to keep from trembling.
“I don’t know… I don’t know…”
