Ugh this was just simply lovely. It made me think of X-men III where Angel was a little boy and was cutting off his wings. When I was younger, I used to never be able to watch that part; I would cover my eyes and bury my face into a couch cushion cause it scared me so much, the ragged edges of his back and the bloody feather fluttering to the ground. And this fic kind of gave me the same feelings- it was so gross and so real and I felt really scared for Harry because WINGS, i mean, just wings.

I know this comment kind of sounds like I didn't love this fic, but I did, you made getting wings, which should be really cracky, into something tangible and real, and I loved it. And I also read this at night when I was alone, so I also hate it a bit, mostly because I had nightmares after this, but I will be rereading it soon (on a day with bright lights and lots of people loitering around the house).

Anyways, great fic! I'll be making sure to keep an eye out for any other fics you post. :)

omg i'm so sorry it gave you nightmares! that was not my intention at all and i hope you can forgive me but i'm glad you liked it!

yeah, i sort of used that part of the movie as a visual guide because i really wanted to portray how ugly and visceral it is to grow wings (in contrast to how beautiful and majestic they look and all that), especially to a human where it's so completely unnatural and foreign to the body that it resorts to treating it like it would any other viruses. and i guess just love making the boys miserable, i don't know why that is

I've read this around four times now, and somehow keep coming back to it. It's so unique and sad and beautifully written and definitely the best harry/zayn fic I have ever read. I absolutely adore it, thank you so much for writing this!
