The name is Yuichi. Nakamaru Yuichi. So can people please stop spelling it "Yucchi"? It's bad enough the boy still gets called Nakamura on occasion, at the very least stop messing up his fairly straightforward first name. Thanks

That would get on my nerves too. But unlike you, instead of it appearing in narrative that is annoying, I'd hate it more in the dialogue. ^^; It's like, you never really know what name these guys call themselves in their head, so maybe if the person explained the personality behind "Yucchi", that would be okay. On the other hand, since it's unlikely the other KAT-TUN members would call him that, unless it's a joke or once in a while, seeing it every line of dialogue would really get on my nerves.
^^;
It's like... I use Junno a lot in some of my less serious fics instead of "Taguchi". Why? Because the fandom is used to it, so even though the usage is incorrect, I'll write Junno in the narrative because the fandom is used to seeing that and referring to him as that. But always in dialogue, it's 'Taguchi', not 'Junno'.
*edit: on the other hand, if the author uses a certain name for a reason (character development, contrast, etc), then that's fine, even if it seems weird- as long as it fits with the story.
True true. I'd buy a mentally-regressed Kame (or whoever) calling Yuichi "Yucchi" or even if it were properly introduced as an exclusive pet name. Starting out with it though, that's a little hard to believe.
Good point! Sometimes it's okay to use in exposition what fandom is used to, if that's how it thinks of that character. For instance, I wouldn't call Koki "Tanaka" or Ueda "Tatsuya," but "Kame" is acceptable in narrative even if KT calls him "Kamenashi-kun". There's a limit though: at some point, it doesn't matter what you call him in your head; if it did, I'd probably calling Jin...yeah, you get my point. ^^
I don't know which is worse in this particular case, narrative or dialogue - "Yucchi" just annoys me all around. Unless he's twelve in your fic, stop calling him that! No one else does, at least not anymore.
Yeah, Yucchi does sound too kiddish. All the nicknames we are familiar with (Junno, Kame, Maru) are much more adult sounding. When Nakamaru is referred to as 'Maru' in a fic, it's weird for me, but I won't stop reading or complain about it, because I accept that as a fandom variation on his name.
Have you ever read anything I wrote? Just out of curiousity. I sometimes have a field day with names- changing them as POV changes. :D It's very chaotic in a fun way. ~.^
Heh, it was hard to resist the Maru when I was writing my one KT fanfic (so far).
I'm gonna say no, just because I can't recall for sure, but I may have. I did want to read that one about Chiaki (when I'm feeling less possessive of Jin =P), do you do it there? I love that stuff, since you know the names people use for their friends change from mind to mind. XD
Ah don't worry about it. I wasn't trying to get you to read my stories, just wanted to know if you had. I like to go into long conversations/debates with my readers, that's why. ^^; I just wasn't sure if you knew that account was mine, and maybe you remembered that author, but not linked it to me? Don't worry about reading anything that you haven't already- I think stories should be read because of interest- not because the author is your friend. :P
