I'm going to make a break from tradition and add my voice to the cacophony of anticipation surrounding this ball.  I will be attending, of course, though not in any finery that I would wear at home.  I'm afraid I don't carry kimono with me while out on campaign.  A horrible oversight, to be certain, but one that will not be too much of a stumbling

Because it isn't relevant anymore. It might have been, but now, it simply isn't realistic.
