Matt gave himself one last look in the mirror, before grabbing his keys out of the bowl and leaving his house. He locked the door behind him, put the keys in his bag and started to make his way to the nearest bus stop. Today was finally the day. And today was also Christmas Day. Matt carefully moved his hand around his bag and sighed in relief as he felt the small package.
Thankfully the bus didn't take very long to arrive, he only had to wait a few minutes. Greeting the driver as he got inside, he scanned his card and took a seat, placing the bag in his lap. He looked out of the window and sighed nervously, rubbing his neck as parts of London flashed by. Matt had a very good reason to be nervous today, and it wasn't because of the presents that were waiting for him later that day.
After a while Matt had to get off the bus and scanned his card again, before leaving. He adjusted the bag over his shoulder and looked down at his feet, chewing his bottom lip. Doubt started creeping over him, but he quickly pushed it out of his mind and walked away. He greeted people as they passed him, and after walking around the posh neighbourhood he finally arrived the house he had to be at.
Dominic's house.
He took a deep breath as he closed his eyes and looked up after a moment, walking up to the door and knocking exactly three times. He only had to wait around 10 seconds before the door opened and Dom smiled brightly at him, ''Hey, Matt! Come in!''
Dom opened the door wider and took a few steps back as Matt walked inside. Matt closed the door behind him, took his shoes and coat off and followed Dom as he led Matt to the living room. Matt looked around the room and smiled softly, ''You decorated nicely again, Dom. It looks very lovely.''
''Thanks!'' Dom beamed and motioned for Matt to sit down on the couch. After Matt did so, he said, ''I'll get us some drinks,'' before leaving to the kitchen. Matt put his bag next to the couch and sighed nervously, rubbing his hands over his thighs. He noticed his hands were a bit sweaty and couldn't help but cringe. He had to calm down. He had to.
Soon Dom came back, he carried two mugs and placed them on the table before sitting down next to Matt, smiling at him, ''I made us hot chocolate, I thought that'd be fitting for today! It's Christmas after all.''
Matt giggled and nodded, ''You're right. Thanks so much.''
Both men sipped their drinks in silence as they looked at the telly, Dom had been watching Love Actually. Of course he had, he watched that film every damn Christmas. Matt couldn't help but giggle at it, it was kind of adorable. He noticed Dom giving him a confused look and blushed, shaking his head, ''Nothing, Dom. I just remembered you watch this film every year.''
''Shut up,'' Dom giggled as he hit the back of Matt's head playfully, ''But yeah, you're right. I can't help it, it's just... I don't know. It kind of makes me want to... have something like that myself?''
Matt pursed his lips and Dom giggled as some chocolate covered his bottom lip, ''What do you want? A boyfriend for Christmas?''
''No,'' Dom shook his head and then nodded, before huffing ''I mean... I mean, I have one, don't I?''
''Yeah, you do,'' Matt said with a grin and his cheeks tinted red as he took another sip from his hot chocolate. He shivered, but didn't know whether it was because of the drink, or because of the happy look Dom was giving him.
After that, Dom let out a nervous giggle and sat closer to Matt, wrapping an arm around his shoulders as Matt leaned into his side. He let out a happy sigh and kissed Matt's hair, ''You were making me all nervous, silly.''
''Me? Making Dominic Howard nervous?'' Matt looked up and grinned playfully, ''That's impossible. I thought you were the ladies man?''
''Turns out I'm more like the... men man,'' Dom nodded, his face serious as Matt burst out into giggling, making him giggle too. ''That was so bad, I'm so sorry. Anyway, uhh... I got a present for you, I'm gonna get it now.''
Matt watched Dom as he placed his mug on the table, got up from the couch and walked to the Christmas tree, grabbing one of the presents from underneath it. He brought it to Matt and held it out with a smile, Matt grabbing it carefully before blushing. ''Can I open it now?''
''Of course, it's Christmas,'' Dom nodded and sat back down, tucking one leg under him as he looked at Matt. Matt placed his mug on the table as well and started opening the paper of the present, smiling widely as it revealed a Christmas sweater. He got up from the couch and held it up in front of his chest, smiling at Dom, ''It's so ugly, I love it. Thank you so much, Dommy.''
Dom grinned as he got up again and hugged Matt tight, kissing his cheek before pulling back to look at him, ''I'm so glad you like it. It looks adorable on you.''
''Thanks,'' was Matt's shy answer and he quickly pulled his own shirt off before putting the sweater on. He smiled and sat down on the couch, grabbed his own bag and took the smaller bag with his present inside out of it. He held it out to Dom and smiled, ''Be careful, it's fragile. But I hope you like it.''
''Oh,'' Dom gasped softly and grabbed the bag, taking a little box out of it. He opened the box and smiled as he took the snow globe out of it. It had a little house inside it with two little people standing in front of it. Dom frowned at it and then gasped again, looking up at Matt, who was nodding already.
''Yeah... A bit cheesy, isn't it? But I got it custom made, and those two people... well, yeah, that's us,'' Matt said and giggled shyly, scratching the back of his head. Dom sniffled as his eyes began to water and he put the globe down on the couch before hugging Matt tight.
''It's the sweetest thing ever,'' Dom whispered and giggled softly, ''It's even making me cry. I'm so happy with it, thank you so much, Matt, it's wonderful.''
Matt looked up at Dom with a wide smile and his eyes widened as Dom tried to sit closer to him again, making the globe fall onto the ground in process because of the dip in the couch. ''Fuck!'' Dom yelled as he tried to catch it, but it was too late. The globe hit the ground hard and the water inside it spilled everwhere as the glass shattered. Dom jumped up and ran to the kitchen, coming back with some paper towels to clean up the ground as he pouted heavily. ''I'm so sorry, Matt, I can't believe this happened.''
Matt smiled and patted Dom's head, ruffling his hair, ''Don't worry about it, Dom. It was just a silly present anyway, I'll get you something else, okay?''
''But it's not about that,'' Dom sighed deeply and shook his head, ''I just ruined your present. And not only was it your present, it was also the first present you gave me for Christmas as my boyfriend...''
As his cheeks tinted red, Matt giggled nervously and waved his hand, ''Really, don't worry about it, Dom. I can ask them to make it again, I'm sure they can do that. It will be fine, yeah? Calm down, just be careful you won't cut yourself.''
Dom nodded as he continued cleaning up and put the glass shards in the bag Matt had handed him for the present. He threw it away in the bin and sat back down next to Matt, blushing. ''Uhm.... Can I ask for another present?''
''Sure?'' Matt frowned and looked at Dom, smiling, ''But I don't have anything with me I can give you. Unless you want money?''
''No!'' Dom shook his head and rubbed his hands over his thighs as he licked his lips, ''I uhhh... I don't want money, thank you. I would like uhm... Can we.... Do you want to...''
Matt snorted and giggled, putting his hand over Dom's as he squeezed gently, ''Hey, come on, Dom. You can ask me for anything, you know that. You've known me long enough to know I'd do anything for you.''
''I know,'' Dom mumbled as he looked down at his and Matt's hands, blushing furiously, ''Okay... Can... Can we kiss? I want our first kiss to be on Christmas. And don't laugh at me or call me cheesy, I know I am.''
For a moment Matt could only look at Dom in shock, he was surprised the other man had asked for this. They had been together for around a month now, but he never thought Dom would be ready for this so soon. But who was he to say no to something so tempting as kissing Dom's beautiful lips?
Before Dom could change his mind, Matt moved closer to him and carefully placed his hands around Dom's face. They looked into eachother's eyes and Matt licked his own lips before he leaned in pressed them against Dom's fuller ones. Dom's whole body shivered but he sighed happily into the kiss and closed his eyes. Matt smiled against the other man's lips as he closed his eyes too and they kissed softly, Matt stroking Dom's cheeks as Dom put his hands on Matt's back.
They pulled away after a moment and Matt looked at Dom with wide eyes. He couldn't believe he just did that. He couldn't believe that he was the one who took the first step. But if he had to admit it, he was pretty proud of it. He grinned to himself and Dom started giggling, pecking Matt's lips one more time before rubbing their noses together, ''I love you so much, Matt. Merry Christmas.''
''I love you too, Dom. Merry Christmas to you as well... I'll get you that present again, I promise.''
