Ring Ring!

JaeJoong woke up to the sound of his cell phone ringing near his head early the next morning.

“Hmm…?” he answered it lazily.

“Happy Birthday Jae!!” he heard two voices screaming loudly on the other line.

“Hmm, thanks guys” he said sitting up in bed and rubbing the sleepy out of his eyes.

“So I was wondering” Yoochun began, “are you free tonight?”

“I don’t have anything planned, why?”

“Then do you want to come over to my house tonight? We can have a little celebration for your twenty-fourth birthday if you’d like?”

“Sure, sounds like fun.”

“Great, then we’ll see you then.”

“Bye Jae!” he heard Junsu shout in the background.

He smiled, “bye guys, I’ll see you later.”

After he hung up, he got out of bed and ready for work.

---

The first thing he did as soon as he arrived at his office was he checked all the voice mails he had on his answering machine. He noticed he had three missed calls. The first two were business calls, but the last one was from someone unexpected.

It was a message from Yunho.

‘Hey Jae, I know these past couple of days were kinda tough, but I figured I should at least call to wish you a happy birthday, so … happy birthday! Well, I guess I’ll see you around. Bye …’

His message was very straightforward and JaeJoong had to admit he was kind of disappointed when he said nothing more. Nonetheless, he was happy because hearing Yunho’s voice after five days of not seeing him felt so good right now and he was very satisfied.

And because of that, JaeJoong was happy for the rest of the afternoon.

---

He stopped by the apartment after work for a change of clothes and drove over to Yoochun’s place to celebrate.

He rang the doorbell twice, and when the door finally opened, it revealed a dark room. JaeJoong walked in slowly and was surprised when the lights suddenly turned on and everyone in the room jumped out and yelled, ‘happy birthday!’

Of course, JaeJoong pretended to be surprised because knowing Yoochun for eleven years now, every time it was his birthday he would always throw a ‘surprise’ party for him. It was pretty much expected in other words.

“Aw, thanks guys” JaeJoong said as he went to hug his friends and greet the rest of the guest. They had invited his parents, relatives, and other close friends he knew as well.

JaeJoong glanced around the room to see if Yunho was there, but to his disappointment, he wasn’t.

Two hours had passed and he found himself sitting on Yoochun’s couch alone at his own party. This was definitely not the way he wanted this day to end.

“Hey, you ok?” Junsu sat besides him and asked with a glass of soda in his hands. “Why so down?”

He sighed, “No reason … I’m gonna go to the bathroom now.”

“Oh, ok” Junsu said as he got up and made his way down the hall.

JaeJoong didn’t really need to go to the bathroom, he just told Junsu that because he knew he was going to start a conversation with him and he just wasn’t in the mood to talk right now.

Along the way, JaeJoong spotted red flower petals on the floor leading to one of the bedrooms. He eyed at them strangely before glancing back to make sure no one was looking and quickly tiptoed into the room.

As he walked in, he saw that the petals continued to lead a trail over to the bed.

He strolled over to it and saw a heart-throbbing, fiery red rose lying there. He picked it up slowly and read the card that was solemnly attached to it.

JaeJoong-ah,

People fall in love not knowing how or why. It's a very special feeling that doesn't require any answers. You just love no matter how stupid you become, and with no regrets. And that's exactly how I feel about you ...

I'd just like for you to know that no matter how many times we fight, I won't ever let you go. I may not be the one perfect guy in your live, but I'll never be out of your life either.

I get the best feeling in the world when you say hi or even smile at me because I know, even if it's just for a second, that I've crossed your mind.

If you were anything less than a lover to me, I think I probably would have ended up somewhere between my fantasy and reality world, because life without you seems utterly impossible to live through.

~ Yunho^^

After reading the card, he felt a tear run down his cheek and quickly wiped it away with the back of his hand.

Next to where the rose laid was a small, neatly wrapped gift box. JaeJoong lifted it up and opened it, and what he saw made his heart skip a beat.

There in the box, was a very expensive Bulova 96G93 Marine Star Series Silver Dial Watch.

JaeJoong didn’t know how long it had been since he was staring at it, but however long it was, he still couldn’t tear his eyes away from the gorgeous piece of jewelry in his hands.

He heard the sound of the door opening and footsteps behind him, but he was so engrossed in the watch that didn’t bother to look and see who had come in.

Yunho stood behind him silently and wrapped his arms around him and whispered, “Happy Birthday Jae.”

He reached over JaeJoong’s shoulder to take the red rose from the bed and caressed it across JaeJoong’s lips softly. “I love you.”

JaeJoong spun around quickly and embraced him tightly.

“I thought you’d never show up.”

“You know I wouldn’t miss your big day for anything in the world right?”

“I love you.”

Yunho chuckled, “I know.”

“And I missed you.”

“I know, I did too.”

“That thing we were fighting about before, I’m really sor-“

Yunho clamped his hand over his mouth to quiet him.

“You know for a guy, you talk way too way much.”

He leaned forward and attached their lips sweetly, swiftly pushing JaeJoong down on the bed and attacking the rest of him eagerly.

“Promise you’ll never leave again?” JaeJoong asked in a pleading tone.

“I won’t, I promise.”

“You’re mine, don’t you ever forget it.”

Yunho smiled and wiped the tear that had fallen down his boyfriend’s cheek.

“As long as you exist, I can’t forget that.”

He kissed him again and began tearing off his clothes at once, making tender love to him throughout the night.

Outside the door, Yoochun and Junsu were eavesdropping on the two in the room. They high-fived each other as Yoochun whispered excitedly, “Mission accomplished!”
