POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORN! No just kidding. Had a good day. wacky fun time. I guess. Except for a misunderstanding that left me sitting at the diner for a half hour being confused. lulz.
My bad.
Other news: I repaired a walk in fridge, and freezer this week at school, despite efforts to the contrary (my classmates.)
I picked up a new 3/4" frost free hose bibb to install for my house in the back yard while my dad is...
Visiting my nephew for the first time. YAY! I get to do repairs and maintenance in my house on various sinks and systems without having him hovering over my back making unhappy noises, and criticizing me for how long it's taking.
MEANWHILE...
I haven't played WoW in a while. I seriously cut back. I played for an hour this entire week. I haven't felt the need for it.
And I saved a baby rabbit yesterday from a fate worse than...well...it prolly would've died. it was faced with 2 of my cats. so it would've been beaten and killed, but it would have been dragged out for a while because...well...cats. At the very least I bought it another day to live. Considering we've already had 3 dead rabbits piled up for us, the rodent population is going to suffer greatly again this year, at the menacing claws of my minions.
I did pay my nephew a visit while I was on easter break. he's getting BIG. he still can't talk yet, but that happens when you have a tube in your throat. but he's 2 years old, and can sign for most things so he can communicate with my sister and brother in law. I got to watch a LOT of blues clues with him.
My trade school is getting shut down. The state is pulling the budget from ours because apparently we spend a half million dollars a year more than we take in, which is awesome because we don't know where that money goes. it certainly isn't to supplies for any of the shops, or advertisements. the entire budget goes to payroll, and into building maintenance, rent, insurance, and SHOULD be materials.
But HVAC-R class...all the materials we work on were donations. Non-budget items. we have torches, gases, yeah, but not anywhere NEAR even $100,000. (the school's annual budget is around 2 million a year. we spend 2.5...oddly enough it seems as though the high school that we rent space from spends a half million more than they are allotted, every year, had a new addition put on, constantly has tech people there for maintenance, and has wacky fun time things like a microbiology lab, a nanotechnology lab, an electron microscope...I mean really...that's some expensive shit to have in a HIGH SCHOOL. The wear and tear on it has got to be insanely costly. So naturally there is the steady belief that there is some thievery going on. Especially since...
One of the standing freeholders of the tech school is actually a financier of Eastwick Schools (otherwise known as Ho-Ho-Kus Institute of Technology. One of Bergen Tech's rival schools). But really, who can POSSIBLY suggest that there might be a conflict of interests when he's one of the higher ranking members of the freeholder board...oh wait.
So yes. My school is getting shut down, because of this supposed accounting error. Despite the fact that my school, unlike other trade schools, has a near 100% employment rate, keeping people employed, at fairly high wages as well. Considering you get that for an incredibly low price as far as tuition? Why would the state be willing to close us down, as opposed to raising tuition rates? make them more competitive with the other schools in the area that offer similar programs? (ie. instead of $8,000 that I paid for HVAC for 10 months and I already have 1 company interested in me with 2 months until my graduation, I could have spent $20,000 to spend a full year in Lincoln Tech, had limited hands on work, and no concept of where I could be working, because they can't get a teacher to last for more than a year there at a time.)
That's about it really, without diving toooooooo deep in the internal politics of my classmates and such.
