The entire corpus of what I dreamed of having with a person slammed into a brick wall at 63 miles per hour, but I saw it coming. The finality is a relief. I've been dancing on pincushions with this particular person in my mind since... Last November. Totally on the best friend ladder. Totally good at getting to the top of best friend ladders.
I'm living in Wellington now, interning for the US Embassy. I work in a secure environment. My largish office has my name on the door, with a nice view out to the hills above town. I do fulfilling work when it comes across my desk. Otherwise, I spend my days watching CNN, religiously updating Facebook and reading blogs. Somehow, I'm not as happy as I could be. Partially, it's because of the above situation. But partially, it's freezing cold and I have no friends down here my age to hang out and do stuff.
Friends: Please come visit me in New Zealand. You too can experience bitter cold and wind, stunning vistas of greenery, rocks and sea, friendly Kiwis, disappointing sporting matches as we lose in every major sport we care about this week (Rugby to France, Soccer to Spain and Cricket to... Uh... Sri Lanka I think?), avoid H1N1 flu and have a grand ol' time.
