To Do - April 6 & 7

Apr 06, 2013 07:51

Here we go again... It's a fairly manageable list, I think, although it would be nice to have a chance to actually just relax. I think my goal is to get as many of the chores/errands done today as possible, so that tomorrow I can have a day to really recharge.

These are not the chores you're looking for... )

I like how you organize it.

And you reminded me to add weighing in for the whole family so we can have the numbers for tournament registration. Boo's the only one who it really actually affects weight class for, though.

The categories actually relate to the color of Sticky Note I use for them. Green is food, blue is errands, yellow is chores, pink is media, white is writing, and purple is miscellaneous.

I had to do that for my tournament form the other week. What's somewhat startling is that it's about 15 pounds less than it was when I did my form last year. But yeah, after a certain point, I think they're just hoping to be able to match you with someone of roughly your same belt level.

Ahhhh, that makes sense. I just started trying to categorize it some so I could find things later. Even later in the day.

And yeah, age, belt level, and weight... I mean, they don't want to put me against someone 50lbs lighter unless she gives permission, because I could knock her over because I've got all that weight to put behind my kicks. So it doesn't make a difference.

Someday I swear I will find the other over 44 year old woman who is crazy enough to be competing, doing Olympic style sparring, and is only 5' tall and over 175lbs or so. SOMEDAY.

That's kind of why I started color-coding the sticky notes. It made it easier for me to find the things that might be time sensitive or more critical, and just keep it a bit more organized.

At last year's tournament the girl I was matched with was my same belt level, height and weight (or very nearly)... and about half my age. I have no idea what's going to happen this year.

I hope that I don't end up sparring A., though, because we have a tendency to do each other damage. I catch her elbows all the time and today she may have broken her toe on my knee. I'm also three belt levels higher, so I'm hoping that will keep us apart.
