I wrote some holiday drabbles for
tryslora. She said if I posted them, she would flail, so here they are. (Can't really post them on AO3 because only one of them is truly fanfic.)
Cold didn't bother Colwyn like it did either people. Especially not tonight, the longest night. If he chose, he could let it seep through him, let ice run through his veins, let ice rime his bones. He could become Winter for a while, and let it melt with the rising sun.
When he curled against Peter's side, let himself be enfolded in the warmth of him, soaked it in like a plant starved for sunlight, it wasn't because he needed to. He sank into his arms because he wanted to. Because what brought back the light wasn't faith, but love.
"You were right. We shoulda taken your car."
TJ shrugged. "It's not the end of the world. The tow truck is coming."
"Eventually. Ain't a lot've people out workin' Christmas Eve, I don't reckon." Johnny looked over at TJ and saw that he was fighting not to laugh. It was only then that he realized just how Texas he'd sounded. "Shoot."
"It's cute," TJ reassured him. "And it's not Christmas Eve."
"It ai-It's not?"
"Nope." TJ held up his phone, showing him the time. "It's Christmas."
Johnny shook his head, flashed a crooked smile. "Well then Merry Christmas anyway."
"You realize you look like a total creeper, hanging out under the mistletoe like that."
"I'm not!" Thorne protested. "I'm totally not."
"Uh-huh. And you're not watching that girl over there, hoping she'll come this way and you can just happen to catch her and steal a kiss."
"Nope." Thorne lifted his chin and crossed his arms, looking smug. "I absolutely one-hundred-percent am not watching that girl over there."
Rory rolled his eyes. "Okay, fine, that guy then."
Thorne grinned. "Would I do a thing like that?"
"Whatever. Just watch out for the nargles."
"Always, little brother," Thorne said. "Always."
"I feel like we've been making this popcorn garland for hours," Kyle said. "The cranberry one didn't take this long. It's like every time I look away, a few inches have disappeared from the end."
Frost looked at him, expression flat. "How strange."
"Yeah, it-" Kyle stopped and looked at him. Really looked. "Timothy!"
"What?" Now he was all wide-eyed innocence.
"You've been eating the garland."
"Have I? Where's your proof?"
Kyle leaned in and kissed him hard, then sat back, licking his lips. "There."
Frost smirked. "Guilty as charged then. But do feel free to question me again."
