Thanks to my brother's idea to have cable television, we were watching (sort of) a disaster movie called "Atomic Twister" on *gasp* the Hallmark channel yesterday. One scene from the movie went like this

It's a long weekend (the Queen's Birthday) here in most of Australia, so Hallmark decided on "Whiteknuckle Weekend." There were killer locusts, schools of tiger sharks, the sun self-destructing and, in Atomic Twister, a tornado heading toward a nuclear power plant.
My stomach hurts - from laughing hysterically at the small bits of a couple of those movies I have had the misfortune to see.
On the occasions I have browsed through the online program guide (there's a button on the remote), I usually don't see anything interesting, so I default to Bloomberg.
While in Thailand, there were three English language channels: BBC (endless promos punctuated by anti-semitic ranting), a movie channel (hit and miss) and Bloomberg. It was during long dilation sessions that Bloomberg grew on me, in a way.
Ok, most of it is lame and cheesy finance news, but some of the stories are interesting and the news ticker is a joy. Rather than blandly stating facts, it often says things such as "Inflation probably increased" and "ABC to takeover XYZ, people say." That vagueness and naked gossip that is so refreshing.
