Through the eyes of my heart

Jun 30, 2004 11:33

Why do I sin against You?
Why do I still look as to lust?
Is there no power that can break me,
Of the sin that controlls my eyes?

Why do I still 'Check her out,'
Though I know she is not my wife?

Why do I still listen to voices,
That lie to my very soul?

It is because I have been looking,
Through my eyes,
And not through the eyes of my heart.

Because my eyes see lies,
And impure things,
but my Heart is where Your throne lyes.

If I would just look through the eyes of my heart,
Then I could see life through Your eyes.
No longer would my eyes dart to lust,
When You are the one that sees through all the lies.

Then I could look so as not to lust,
Then I could give purity to my thoughts.
My own eyes are blind to Your truths,
But Your eyes are blind to mine.

So when I can look through the eyes of Your heart,
Then I can see why You died.
Then I can see I am loved.
Then I can see through Your eyes.

So from this day until the day that I die.
I will look through the eyes of my heart.
My eyes are blind to Your love,
But Your eyes are blind to the lies.

DISCLAIMER>>>> This is not a poem. I often write stuff that does not rhyme and just call it "Free verse poetry." That is now what this is. This is a call to arms to have all of the warriors out there come together and realize that we lust and sin against our Lord in our minds because we try to do things on our own. But we are so weak on our own. We sin against our Lord and our future wives when we look at women and "Check them out." I wish my generation could understand this, I have had talks with my friends and tried to make them understand this, but they desire to keep on looking at lust, so they are blinded. THAT IS THE POINT. Through our own eyes we are blind. Through our own eyes we will always fall to sin. But if we would look through the eyes of our heart, the very place where Christ has set up His throne, (Ephesians 2:22 says "And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.") Then we could see live through the very eyes of GOD. Then we would not desire to "look on a woman as to lust." Then we would see righteousness and not depair. Then we could become warriors, not sinners 'saved by grace.' We were meant to be so much more than what we are... we don't have to be slaves to our eyes or any other sinful part of us, because Christ lives within, if we would just give Him control.

Peace and Love.
