So I definitely just spent seven hours cleaning, cooking, and housewifering because some friends are coming over tonight.
I made:
-Vanilla soy chai for Zac (he only likes soy chai...weird boy)
-Dahk gui (sweet and spicy marinated chicken) with carrots, mushrooms, and onion. I actually skinned, deboned and thinly sliced a whole chicken for this. So much work, but so much tasty.
-Pajeon (savory egg pancake) with scallion, ginger, and butternut squash and a sweet soy and ginger dipping sauce
-Cabbage to be sauteed with oyster sauce
-Chocolate chip cookies :D (because it totally goes with the theme, right?)
We also have rice (duh), hot garlic pickled okra that I made a few months back, sambal olek (spicy chili paste-like sriracha), daenjang (a delicious soy bean and chili sauce that you would swear was made of bacon and sex, but is actually vegetarian and sans sex), sliced garlic and green chili, pumpkin pie, and of course the blueberry wine courtesy of beijipan (I don't tag, sue me).
Overall should be a fun night. Zac, Cole, Jess, Angel, and Cole's friend Colin are all coming over. Cole and Colin want to learn some shibari so Zac is going to teach them some basics (rounding out the asian theme?).
I love being able to collapse on Friday, and be productive on Saturday. Last night we went out at midnight and got garlic knots and a Greek pizza from Fuel. I love restaurant.com. Our $25 tab ended up only costing us $11. Seriously, I suggest anyone check out the restaurants in their area..and google the coupon codes. We have something like 15 $25 gift certificates that cost us $10 total and we saved $150 off of the site from the coupon codes. Not to mention the $300 we save on restaurant food from the certificates! Totally worth it for the sushi restaurants. I ate less than I wanted to, but I'm three pounds from my goal weight so I'm trying to be good.
This is a catch 22, however. My skinny jeans are now big on me! I don't want to spend more money on clothes! But being thin is happy. I think I'm just going to get a bunch of drawstring waist skirts which defeat the purpose of being skinny, but are easier on the wallet. I'll always find something to complain about, I know. :P
Can't wait to get up to Raleigh and hang out with people. School is killing me slowly...or quickly, depending on who you ask. Busy busy busy but I know it will be worth it in the end, when I'm making the big bucks, lol.
