Watched Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete

My Japanese copy of the blu-ray FFVII: ACC arrived a couple days ago. I watched it with my brother and played through some of the FFXIII trial disc that came with it.

I thought it was pretty cool how they added more backstory and motivation for Denzel. In the original it seemed kind of weird that he decided to go off with a bunch of strangers to "get better". I'm glad that ACC put more emphasis on how bad geostigma was for those inflicted with it, and that Denzel was already feeling like a burden to Cloud and everyone.

The extra scenes with the Turks were much appreciated. Yay, more Reno! Yay, more Elena! I loved having more Zack, too. The added/extended scenes for the fights were fun of course, and I think the scene replacement (I think it was the only thing that was replaced, and not just added-on to) with Sephiroth was especially a lot more effective.

I didn't really think much of the bit of the Final Fantasy XIII demo I played through, besides its being fairly pretty. Didn't bother trying to read or find out what all the menu options were in Japanese and mostly just selected 'attack' over and over. I remain rather intrigued by Lightning. She seems a lot different from most FF heroines, rougher and more mature, and I admit I'm kinda taken in by her facial resemblance to Cloud. I might go through and play through the demo to its end and I might not. Like previous RPG demos I've played through, it seems that FFXIII's is limited to a pretty boring location that really doesn't give much of an impression of the game as a whole.
