Kevin sent this to me this morning. We've both seen it before, but sometimes its good to hear again. The joy and loveliness in life are in the little things, and our value is in everything God has already blessed us with. We spend so much time seeking the Grandiose meaning of life, when its all right here. Even God is in the little things.
I think I've been feeling pretty bored and lonely lately, which are two things I don't entirely believe should exist. I believe that because there is too much beauty in life (too many books, too many cups of tea, too many unsearched trails) to ever be bored or lonely.
This passage in the Old Testament struck me a couple nights ago, concerning the nature of God.
" The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by."
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
~ 1 Kings 19:11-13
So many times, God's voice is just a small voice, speaking quietly. I guess that's why faith can be so difficult at times, because God rarely strikes us with lightening to make himself heard.
