today looks good, the sun is shining, and the pollen is still filling the air, and myself with yellow stuff...but still its been a long long winter this year. I'm not sure why, but it just seemed to last forever. Maybe it was us waiting for Sophie to be born, maybe it was the dark clouds overhead most of the winter, maybe it was work (things have been really slow), maybe its just me.
I wonder about middle age. The crisis stuff I hear about never made much sense to me, but now today I'm getting a glimmer of what those folks meant. I see a huge chunk of my wages go to a government that really doesn't care about me or my family. I see people who should be able to take a joke, or even a prod burn with unadulterated hatred and I see myself, not at all where I thought I would be a few years away from retiring.
Every day I'm thankful for what I have, and I'm very protective of it. Maybe too protective because the majority of people now are either asleep or cattle who agrees without complaint as they are herded towards the slaughterhouse. The internet, which was once the realm of free thinking people is becoming increasingly 'controlled' for my protection. Governments lay down silly copywrite laws that are a joke, while allowing virus's to be openly traded on the net. I think that far too often commercial anti-virus companies and Microsoft want virus's to get put out, so that they can sell more 'protection' stuff...
The swine flu has mutated in Canada. Some jerkoff farmer infected his own pigs with avian flu, and they gave back a 'triplex' flu that kills people. This is not going to be pretty. The Spanish flu caused widespread panic and quarantines that killed hundreds of non-infected as well as letting others die because of lack of care. Have we learned anything in past century? I doubt it. I'm just hoping that someone in government actually has his shit together, but from what I've seen they are all pretty much little 'Stephens' and not liable to take a risk.
Interesting times to reach at this stage...
