sometimes I wish folks would actually check stuff before getting their shirts in a knot. One of the things I hate about the SCA is the plethora of rules and regulations that are a mess to keep on top of, and worse, are arbitrary and just plain stupid. Any sort of peerage or royalty can usually do whatever the hell they want when it comes to serving in an office, and it seems more than silly to allow such a thing in the modern world..is this the Anachronisms part of the SCA? I guess it is but it should be the Society for Creative Anarchy since that is more in line with what goes on.
How many times have I seen bullshit come down from some idiot at Kingdom level who just figured 'if I want it, then its the law'. Hell that's a basic rule in our 'Kingdom Law' the Kings word...is law. So in other words if the King says 'you don't have to show up to meetings and such if you don't want too' then its 'the LAW'. What a load of crap. Ever wonder why they wrote the Magna Carta or Cromwell got into so much trouble? The SCA should cut the crap and have real rules to live by and follow, I'm sure we'd get a hell of a lot more members if we did, and we could expect a better class of person sitting in the thrones if they actually had to follow the rules...
Oh well...it goes back to my '10% rule' I guess....I seem to like people who can follow rules but still think for themselves and most folks seem to be unable to do either (at least in the SCA). Not very satisfying...
Oh and I had a great laugh when I saw a recent application for B&B; I wonder what's going to happen if we can ever get these folks together for a debate or public forum...what a joke.
Still waiting for the pandemic alarms to go off...
