The pairings was another surprise on me in this story. I knew going in that it was going to be Bakura/Kaiba, but I wanted the others to be semi-rare pairings too. So Atemu/Mana (yep, that one's actually staying), Jounouchi/Yuugi (not really rare but oddly not as common as I would have thought it would be), Ryou/Mai (I've never seen this one before), and Malik/Amane (ditto on never seeing it before). I didn't want this one to fall into the "everyone's gay" trope, so I decided to have a wee bit of fun... plus it was my chance to play with mythology some.
You know, I need to eventually flesh out how Ryou did the kicking out. In the back of my mind, I've been thinking he slung a fit to end all fits, freaked Atemu the hell out, and sent Atemu running -- only for Atemu to hear the door slam shut the second he was out and realize he'd been played. But right now, that's just a theory.
I'm having wayyy too much fun with Yuugi and Ryou. Asshole!Atemu was... oddly less difficult for me to write than I thought it would be; it's just blending more with mythology, since All Fathers (Zeus, Jupiter, Odin, etc) tended to have very assholish characteristics.
I have Part 13 finished. I just want to get some work done on Part 14 (ugh, action, how I suck at it) before I put it out there. (And I have to decide if I'm going to porn after Part 13 or leave it "fade to black". Yes, I just made "porn" a verb; I rock like that.) I've just been being very bad and lazy and not writing all week. JulNo nearly fried me this year.
