Summary: Once more, the king laughed. He leaned forward, pressed his lips against the shell of Subaru's ear, and asked, "Do you think I'm sexy?"

-

"Naughty," the king said, quiet, into Subaru's neck. Subaru tensed unhappily, expecting to be hit as he was turned around deftly by the king. "You should be in bed," he continued as he lead Subaru away from the window where Subaru had been looking out out across the room, to the bed.

Subaru wanted to apologize but knew he was supposed to stay silent. Perhaps, after punishing him, he would be allowed to.

The king pushed him down onto the bed. "It makes it easier for us to play."

Subaru was uncertain what was meant by that. To be played with was something he would understand. But the king seemed to want them both to have fun, a sentiment Subaru had gotten from him more than once.

Subaru was jolted completely out of his thoughts by the king climbing on top of him. His mouth fell dry.

The king gave him a considering look and Subaru thought maybe that meant he was deciding on the best method to punish him. Maybe that was what he meant by play. It would be a mutual activity. The king would teach, expecting Subaru to learn.

"What were you looking at?" The king asked.

"I was watching birds," Subaru answered. He forced himself still. He might still be punished yet.

The king looked amused. "Would you like to go outside?"

"I don't know." Subaru couldn't stop himself from squirming.

The king's eyes grew dark as he leaned over to kiss the base of Subaru's neck.

-

"You've been here for three weeks," the king said and Subaru lifted up his chin to look up at him while being spoken to. "What do you think?"

"I don't understand what you mean," Subaru said.

The king laughed and then asked, "Do you like it here?"

"Yes."

The king smiled at him in a way that made heat rise on Subaru's face. He pulled Subaru closer to his chest. "Do you like me?"

Subaru was confused about what the king was doing and worried he was responding poorly. Slowly, watching his king's face carefully for any signs of displeasure, he said, "I was born for you."

Once more, the king laughed. He leaned forward, pressed his lips against the shell of Subaru's ear, and asked, "Do you think I'm sexy?"

Subaru almost shivered at the way the king's breath felt against his skin. "Yes."

The king pushed Subaru onto his back and moved over him, his legs against Subaru's. Otherwise, their bodies did not touch. He braced his hands at the sides of Subaru's head. "Tell me how."

"You're tall and strong," Subaru said, blushing, as the words poured out of him quicker than he could process them, obedience his gravitational pull, "and you look at me."

The king kissed him gently and Subaru relaxed. This was something he understood how to respond to.

-

"Come sit at the table," Seishirou said.

Subaru got off the bed and walked across the room, wondering exactly what Seishirou planned to do with him. He hadn't learned much that included chairs but Seishirou-san had shown himself to be particularly creative more than once.

However, Seishirou seemed to have other plans than Subaru anticipated. He sat down across from Subaru and took out what Subaru recognized as a deck of cards from his pocket.

"Do you know what these are?"

"Yes," Subaru said.

"How?" Seishirou asked.

Subaru grew stiff and he looked down at the table. Perhaps he wasn't supposed to know.

"Look at me," Seishirou said, a hint of a warning in his voice. Subaru snapped his head up and looked directly into Seishirou's eyes. "You're not in trouble," his voice became gentle and tension started to melt from Subaru's muscles, "I just want to know more about you."

Subaru gawked at Seishirou. "My grandmother," he said, slowly, "sometimes she played with them while she made sure I ate."

Seishirou gave him a thoughtful look. "So you've never played with them?"

Subaru shook his head.

"I'll teach you then!" Seishirou said, giving what Subaru could only describe as a happy grin.

It made Subaru's mouth feel dry. He wasn't quite sure what it meant. He didn't try and dissect it though. He knew to give his full attention to Seishirou.

"It's called Go Fish," Seishirou said, as he slid a card across the table to Subaru. "I think you'll like it."

Subaru almost told him he'd like anything he did with Seishirou before remembering that he was to keep quiet unless Seishirou asked him a question or ordered him to speak.

-

"What is your favorite color?"

Subaru stared up at Seishirou, who had just taken off the last of Subaru's clothes, and was now shifting into position in which he was resting atop Subaru and looking down at him at the same time. "Orange, I think."

Seishirou eyes sparkled with amusement. "You're not sure?"

Subaru felt himself blushing. "I don't know if my reasons are right."

"Really?" Seishirou looked like he was going to laugh. "Tell me."

"In books," Subaru said, feeling his face heat up more and growing uncomfortably aware of Seishirou being on top of him and not using him, "no one seemed to like orange. I don't want it to feel lonely."

Seishirou did laugh then and ran a hand through Subaru's hair before cupping the back of his head and pulling him up for a quick kiss. "My Subaru-kun," Subaru's heart skipped a beat, "is adorable."

The next night, Seishirou came in wearing an orange shirt and that made Subaru's palms sweat.

-

"These are for you," Seishirou said as he held out a bouquet of red roses to Subaru.

Subaru stared at them for several minutes before remembering he was supposed to thank him. He bowed, quickly, in an apologetic manner, before saying, "Thank you, Seishirou-san."

Seishirou leaned over to kiss his forehead before setting them on the nightstand, right behind where they were both standing. "I'll have a vase brought up soon." He pressed a shallow kiss on Subaru's lips. "They're an apology."

Subaru blinked at him several times.

"I can't be with you for nearly a week," Seishirou said. He smiled gently. "I don't want you to think I'm taking you for granted."

Subaru's face grew warm and he couldn't help but recall some of the romance novels he read.

"I'll see you as soon as I can," Seishirou said and kissed Subaru once more before leaving.

Subaru took the flowers and sat down on the bed. He cradled them in his arms in order to make sure they weren't damaged until the vase arrived.
