Chapter 1
By: White Rain
Disclaimer: I do not own Torchwood or Doctor Who.
Genre: Action/Drama/Romance
Pairings: Some Jack/Ianto, but no more than you see on the show.
Word Count: 961
Chapter rating: PG-13
Notes/Warnings: Spoilers up to Fragments for Torchwood and Voyage of the Damned for Doctor Who. It's AU from Adrift and Voyage of the Damned on. When it comes the pairings, they are ultimately going to be Ten/Rose, Jack/Ianto/Gwen, and Owen/Tosh. However, various other romantic relationship will be explored as well.
Note the tag changeverse (for I am both subtle and creative!), because this is the first story in a series of stories and one shots taking place in this 'verse. So this, hopefully, isn't typical reunion!fic. And not just because Ten/Rose isn't the main focus of the story.
Summary: The twenty-first century is when everything changes.
Chapter summary: Rose is the Bad Wolf.
"The world is supposed to end in ten minutes," Rose said, cocking her head to the side to face Mickey and grin. "Sure you want to spend it with me?"
"It's not the universe," Mickey said as he shoved sand into his duffle bag.
"You always were a cheap date," Rose said.
"A walk across the beatch is romantic," Mickey said as he stood up.
"Like I said, cheap," Rose said.
"Nine minutes now," Josh said, holding up his hand in order to show them his watch. He tapped on the face of the watch and cocked his eyebrow. "Eight minutes if you guys don't get a move on." He'd been prepared since early morning.
Rose picked up her bag and swiftly dusted off the sand on the bottom. She set her hand on his shoulder and grinned. "Don't worry so much, yeah?"
"Seven minutes." Josh's voice was strained.
"Trust me on this," Mickey said as he lead them across to beach to where the car was. "We'll only need five minutes."

"You better have a good reason for getting us up so early, Harkness," Owen said turning around in his chair to give Jack a pointed look.
"Do you sleep now?" Ianto asked and tilted his left eyebrow up slightly as he handed Jack a cup of coffee.
"I could ask you the same question," Owen said, giving his neatly pressed suit a pointed look. "Who puts on a suit at two in the morning?"
"One thirty," Ianto said as he handed a cup to Gwen, who gave him a grateful smile.
"He was here when I was alerted," Jack said, and gave Owen a sharp look when he opened his mouth, no doubt with a retort on his tongue.
"It's too early for a fight," Tosh said as Ianto set her coffe down next to her.
Owen was about to grumble about how damn chirpy she sounded, but was distracted by the sight of Ianto not moving to sit down next to Gwen, but instead walking out of the meeting room completely.
Lovers quarrel? Owen mouthed to Gwen when Jack turned around to turn on the computer behind him.
Gwen shook her head, eyes wide, and shrugged.
Jack twirled around and set his hands on the table, grinning. "In no less than ten minutes, you'll be meeting my Doctor."
For once, Owen was grateful that he couldn't drink anything, or else he probably would have spit out his coffee like Gwen and Tosh.

Ianto had played out many scenario of finally meeting Jack's mysterious Doctor in his mind. However, him barging into the tourist front, eyes manic, with his hair all over the place had not been one of the scenarios.
"Where's Jack," he said, walking briskly over to the desk and setting his hands on top of it. Ianto noted that he dug his fingers into the desk and was breathing a hair too deeply to be normal as he wordlessly opened the door to the hub.
"Just walk straight forward," Ianto muttered as the Doctor ran into the hub without another word.
He picked up a magazine and began to flip through it, looking for a readable article. It was going to be a long morning.
-
It took the Doctor exactly twenty three seconds to find Jack. He was sitting at a head of a table, elbows on the edge, with his chin resting on his hands.
The Doctor's eyes locked onto the computer behind him, where, written red on a black background were the words BAD WOLF. He swallowed, quickly tearing his eyes away from it and onto Jack.
"When did you get the message?"
"Exactly two hours and," Jack looked down briefly at his watch, "ten minutes ago." He looked back up and tilted his head to the side. "Where's Ianto?"
"Who?" The Doctor asked.
"He let you into the hub," Jack said, lips twitching into a smile. The Doctor blinked and looked around the room, just noticing that three other people were there, and staring at him. Jack tilted his head to a woman with dark hair, "Gwen Cooper," then he tilted his head towards the other side of the table where another woman and a man sat, "Toshiko Sato and Doctor Owen Harper." At the word 'doctor', he shot a grin at Owen before turning back to the Doctor. "This is Torchwood Three."
The Doctor stared at Owen and took a step back before quickly walking across the room to stand next to Jack. Setting his hand on the table next to Jack, the Doctor turned to glare at him. Waiting until Jack backed away very slightly, the Doctor said, so softly, that only Jack could hear him, "What happened to him?"
"This isn't the time for that," Jack said. "Rose."
The Doctor pulled away, took out his glasses, and turned to look back at the screen. He put them on and then folded his arms.
"What exactly is going on, Jack?"
"Gwen," Jack said and from the corner of his eye, he saw Jack was pointedly avoiding looking in Gwen's direction, "get Ianto. We're going to need all the hands we can get."
"Are we going to save the world again?" Owen asked.
"Not quite," Jack said, "but this is even more important. Tosh, I need you to man the computer."
"Got it," she said.
"Can you figure out these files?" Jack asked as she walked over to the computer and began to quickly type on the keyboard.
"Already have," she said in a rather distracted manner.
Before the Doctor could question him, Jack said, "Rose sent me some encrypted files."
"How?"
"That's what we're going to find out," Jack said.
"You mean," Tosh said, tapping a few more buttons before turning around with a smile, "what I've already found."
"Impressive," the Doctor said, and walked over to the computer in order to examine the files loaded onto the screen. "In fact," he grinned at Toshiko, "this is downright brilliant."
