Warnings/notes: It's been too long since I've posted anything. It might be too sappy but I do not care.
Summary: Jack, on his team.
i. tosh
The first thing Jack ever saw in Tosh was the Doctor. She was filled with wonder and the desire to see something more. She was so sure that earth wasn't where it ended and she craved to see it all. The way she lit up when she saw something new was overwhelming.
He probably would have kissed her if she had said 'fantastic'.
Of course, there were differences. She lacked confidence. She walked blindly towards love instead of fighting it every step of the way. She called her mom once a week. He could stop her when she went to far when her heart was involved.
He no longer sees Doctor in her (though sometimes when he watches her work, he suddenly falls in love with the Doctor all over again) and sees Tosh, the strongest person he'd ever known.
ii. owen
The only thing Jack saw in Owen for the longest time was himself. Who he used to be. Owen could do absolutely anything and Jack would forgive him because he could never begin to forgive himself.
Then he died.
Jack is forced to live forever because Rose didn't want him to die, and Owen will be forced to die forever because Jack couldn't stand the thought of Owen dying on his watch.
He now sees Owen instead of a shadow of who he used to be and would forgive him for anything because that's what a family is.
iii. ianto
Ianto reminded him of nothing from his past nor did he see a reflection of what he wanted for his future. He was cute and good at what he did.
Then there was Lisa.
The day Lisa died was the day that Jack feel for him. The crazy insane depth of love that Ianto had for Lisa was the exact kind that Rose and the Doctor had for each other. The exact kind of love that made him believe in something that he hadn't dared to since he lost his brother and father.
As far as he was concerned, there was no chance of letting Ianto go after that.
iv. gwen
Rose.
The moment he started to talk to Gwen, the only person that Jack could think about was Rose. It had been the first time in a long time that he'd felt something close to happiness. Rose wasn't completely dead if he could see her in someone else.
He still sees Rose in Gwen - being trapped in another world has just changed his nightmares to watching her die alone.
When he allows himself to think about it, Jack can admit the reason he can't quite look at Gwen without looking seeing Rose is because he has no idea what he'd find.
v. earth
The twentieth century earth isn't the only home he's ever had - there was the place he grew up and then there was the Doctor and Rose.
But it's his home now.
