Warnings/notes: I wanted to write a valentines day fic so I did! This is set between 'The Christmas Invasion' and 'New Earth'.
Summary: He likes to watch her sleep.
Since he had regenerated, he found that he liked to watch her sleep.
There was something completely enchanting about the peaceful expression on her face and the way she wrapped her arms around a bit of the blanket as if it was a stuffed animal. It was one of the few times he was totally content staying still since he'd kissed her.
It became a habit to sit down next to her bed and watch her for most of the night. Forever was a word he didn't believe in, but the word floated in the back of his mind when he thought about how long he'd want to watch her sleep.
"Doctor?"
The Doctor started from shock, momentarily speechless.
"What are you doing here? Is something wrong?" Rose said sleepily as she sat up.
"No," the Doctor said, staring at her arms as she stretched them above her head.
Rose tilted her head towards his him and cocked an eyebrow up. "Then what were you doing?"
"Time Lords don't sleep as much as humans," the Doctor said.
"So you spend the extra time watching me sleep?" Rose said, lips slowly twitching up. "Did you do this before?"
"No," the Doctor said, "I didn't occur to me." When she furred her eyebrows together, he hastily stood up from the chair he had been sitting on and closer to the bed and said, "I would have liked it just as much now though. I'm sure of it."
Rose stared at him for a long moment before suddenly reaching out, grabbing his wrist and pulling him down on the bed with her. Resting her head on his shoulder, she said, "You'll be a good pillow."
Grinning, he replied, "Glad to be of service."
