ugh, Mark does it. I always get on his case about it. I can understand letting the engine warm up for a few minutes when it is -30 outside, but he leaves it to warm up for a LONG time. I usually just get in and drive off, the whole while muttering and shaking in the cold. LOL
ugh! everyone on our street lets their cars run while they clean off their cars and/or shovel their driveways. i'm thinking, "dude, you're not getting in there in your underwear! you've got your coat on!" how much do they need to warm the car up? i dunno. it bothers me a lot whatever the temperature, but it REALLY kills me in summertime. like as if we need more smog, ya know?
they do it because they don't want to be the least bit uncomfortable (i.e. hot and sweaty), so they sit in there, usually in front of the grocery store, with the car running and the windows up. i go on rants because it is horrendous here how ignorant people are. i often go up to cars, tap on the window and a) ask them if the've ever even heard about global warming, and b) remind them that idling is illegal in toronto. i've only been told to fuck off once. ONCE! most people look sheepishly at me and turn off the engine right away!
